One arrested for wildlife poaching.

Four deer skins recovered.

The SIT Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested a person in Rohini, Delhi for wild life poaching. Four good quality Sambhar (deer) skins were recovered from his possession. The arrested person is:

  • Vishal (32) r/o Hubli, Karnataka – He works in an incense stick (agarbatti) manufacturing factory in Hubli, Karnataka. He, along with his associates, traps and kills animals in the protected wildlife sanctuaries of Karnataka. Recently, they had killed four Sambhar deer. He had brought the skins to Delhi about a week ago in the hope of selling them for a good price.

Ct. Shiv Kumar of SIT received information about Vishal. A team was constituted, led by Insp. Jitender Singh, SI. Anil Malik and others including Assistant Director of Wildlife Office, Delhi. After sustained efforts at about 4:00 pm on 4.9.09, the Crime Branch team finally succeeded in apprehending Vishal from Sector-24, Rohini, Delhi. Four well preserved deer skins, two large and two small, worth over Rs. 50,000/- in the illegal market, were recovered from his possession.

A case, vide FIR No. 151/09 dated 4.9.09 u/s 39/44/51 Wildlife Protection Act 1972 PS. Crime Branch has been registered in this regard.

Further investigation in the case is in progress.

Loan Trickster arrested

The Connaught Place Police has arrested an ICICI Bank’s Loan Agent Devinder Singh Ratra @ Dimpy S/o Surender Singh R/o 3779, Sector-23, Palam Vihar, Gurgaon, aged 37 yrs. for deceiving an NRI for an amount of Rs. 14 Lacs under the garb of fictitious repayment plan.

The facts of the case are that Sh Pritpal Singh Malhotra, an NRI, residing in USA wanted to purchase a flat in Gurgaon and was looking for a good house loan scheme. He was approached by the accused Davinder Singh Ratra through a DSA M/s Regards Marketing Pvt. Ltd. posing himself as CEO. He arranged a home loan of Rs. 50 Lacs to the complainant for purchasing a flat in Gurgaon from ICICI Bank’s Janakpuri Branch. The bank gave him repayment plan through schedule of EMIs. Thereafter, the accused introduced a fictitious repayment scheme showing no interest required to be paid on the EMIs and convinced the complainant to pay him Rs. 14 Lacs, which will be adjusted in the repayment of EMIs saving him interest. He managed to obtain cheques/demand drafts of Rs.14 Lacs from the complainant deceitfully and deposited these cheques in a joint account of his wife and mother. He withdrew the amount so obtained for paying the EMIs to the Bank and misappropriated the amount and absconded. A complaint was filed by the complainant and case vides FIR No. 371/08 dated 16.08.2008 u/s 419/420 IPC was registered at P.S. Connaught Place and investigations taken up.

During investigation, it was revealed that Davinder Singh Ratra, accused, has no affiliation with ICICI Bank in any manner and was not the CEO in M/s Regards Marketing Pvt. Ltd. He is self styled agent of the banks offering his services for arranging bank loans on commission basis. The accused vacated his own house in Delhi and started living in a rented

accommodation in Gurgaon. Finally, his latest address was tracked and a raid was conducted and the accused was arrested.

On sustained interrogation the accused admitted to have cheated another person Sh Surender Pal Verma, with similar modus operandi and misappropriated about Rs. 11 Lacs for his own use. The investigation is in progress.

Five armed robbers arrested: Robbery bid foiled: Two pistols, one toy pistol and two knives recovered: Four vehicles including two cars and two motorcycles being used in commission of crime are also recovered.

INTRODUCTION:

With the arrest of five persons namely i) Jitender @ Bhola @ Gujar, aged 27 years, resident of D-24, Khanpur Extn. Near Duggal Colony; ii) Ravinder @ Kaif, aged 28 years resident of E-95/B, Jawahar Park, Deoli Khanpur, Delhi; iii) Sandeep, aged 28 years resident of E-52 Krishna Park, Deoli, Delhi iv) Mahesh @ Anil @Prabhu, resident of C-56, Duggal Colony Khanpur, Delhi and v) Vikash Kumar, aged 27 years resident of E-13, Krishna Park, Deoli Road, New Delhi, the South District police has busted a gang of desperate criminals involved in cases of robberies, kidnapping, theft etc. The police has also foiled an attempt of robbery they had planned to commit at a petrol pump businessman carrying large amount in the late evening. Two cars i.e. maruti car and Esteem Car and two motor cycles have also been taken into police possession as these were being used by the criminals in order to commit incidents of robberies and thefts. Two loaded pistols, two knives and one toy pistol have also been recovered from their possession.

INCIDENT:

For the past few months there were incidents of cash robberies and thefts on roads in various parts of the city. In order to nab criminals suspected to be involved in these incidents and carrying weapons and vehicles in order to execute their plans, various teams of Delhi police had been pressed into services. Some incidents in which bank customers carrying cash had also been targeted by these groups of criminals. The criminals were not putting up at their known addresses and hide outs and discreetly putting up at unknown locations.

INVESTIGATION, TEAM & ARREST:

In order to develop intelligence regarding the movement of such criminal group and arrest them a team of police station Lodhi Colony comprising of SI Virendra Prakash, ASI Shashi Kant, HCs Satender, Balbir, Rajender, Vinod, Tara Chand, and Consts Umesh and Sachin under the supervision of Inspr. Rajender Singh, SHO/Lodhi Colony and Sh. Vikramjeet Singh, ACP/Def. Colony was formed. The team so formed developed intelligence through its secret sources and learnt that a few criminals having criminal back ground are having good weapons and vehicle fleet and committing crime on roads. On a specific information received from such a sources that a petrol pump owner having his house in nearby Jangpura colony would be targeted when he would go back to his house in late evening with sale proceeds of the day in his luxury car. The group, having in their mind that the police would be busy dealing with the Student election activities and they would be free to execute their plan of crime today, assembled near Jangpura flyover with carrying sufficient fire power and vehicles in order to hatch a plan of robbery as to how the targeted businessman would be intercepted and robbed. At right time, the team rushed to the spot and surrounded the criminals assembled there and arrested them around 6 PM dated 04.09.09. Two loaded pistols, one toy pistol, two knives, two motor cycles and two cars were recovered from them at the spot. They all were booked for assembly and for planning to commit robbery/dacoity. A case was registered at P.S. Lodhi colony vide FIR No. 155 dated 4.9.09 u/s 399/402 IPC and 25 Arms Act against all the five arrested persons.

INTERROGATION:

On sustained interrogation the arrested accused persons have disclosed that they had earlier committed robberies, kidnapping, motor cycles thefts, flesh trade, Arms Act etc and had been declared PO and remained wanted in several cases. In some cases they fought for the girls involved in flesh trade and even abducted them forcibly to run their business. Two of the members of the gang namely Bhola and Sandeep are still putting up with their girl friends after deserting their own family and house. The group had been involved in cases of snatching

and motor cycle thefts and few of them are still wanted in these cases. A few of them consume sedatives and banned drugs and also use girls in flesh trade to use these drugs against their customers to part with their valuables. Such customers usually do not come forward to lodge a formal report to the police.

The vehicles recovered from them are being verified as to whether they are stolen or they had managed these vehicles on fake papers. The group had also used both the motorcycles recovered in order to commit snatchings, motor vehicle thefts. The gang is suspected to be involved in recent cases of bank related crime reported at Batra hospital and Jungpura flyover along with other notorious criminal Vinod. The concerned police stations have also been informed to join the interrogation of these criminals for their involvements in such cases.

All the criminals have earlier been involved in various crimes and come of middle class families.

RECOVERY:

  1. Two loaded pistols;
  2. One toy pistol;
  3. Two knives;
  4. One Esteem Car;
  5. One Maruti Car;
  6. Two motor cycles;

The investigation is in progress and more cases are likely to be solved.
