One Act Peer Educator Application

Thank you for your interest in becoming a One Act peer educator! One Act is UNC-CH’s bystander intervention program led by peer educators and a Student Wellness staff member that gives students the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognize early warning signs of violence and take preventative action in their everyday life.

Training

One Act peer educator training consists of approximately 40 hours of training on content (including consent, high-risk drinking, warning signs of sexual assault, interpersonal violence, and stalking), presentation and facilitation skills, and practice presenting the curriculum.

Expectations

Once trained, peer educators are expected to attend weekly one-hour meetingswith all peer educators, lead at least three trainings each semester, and help with tabling and promoting the program. Students are expected to lead both One Act and One Act for Greeks trainings. The peer education commitment is for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Applications are due at 11:59pm on May 21st at 11:59 pm, though will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please email your application to Amee Wurzburg, Sexual Violence Prevention Program Manager at your application moves onto the next round, we will be in touch about scheduling an interview.

Please note that your application will be reviewed by Student Wellness staff and current One Act peer educators. If specific details are shared regarding an incident of violence that happened here at Carolina, or by or to Carolina students, staff at Student Wellness are responsible employees and are required to share this knowledge with the UNC’s Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
