Tuesday March 7, 2000

8:07 TG1 chair called the meeting to order.

8:08 I Gifford went through the proposed agenda for this morning.

8:11 Motion to approve the modified agenda was moved by T Siep and seconded by M McInnis, following no objections the modified agenda was approved.

8:12 T Siep began discussion of work to be done; four areas were identified:, Intro, SAPS, SDL/ANS1, and PICs Proforma.

8:15 Stewart Kerry interrupted T Siep to inform him that 802.11 was about to vote on whether or not the 802.11 chair should approve the 802.15 High Rate PAR during the EXCOM meeting. T Siep left to attend the 802.11 meeting.

8:18 TG1 chair began the meeting again.

Document 53 LB2-Reply-Comments

Flat file approach currently, need to track all comments

Will be a single line entry called comment replies in the D.06 Comment document.

8:36 T Siep began going through document IEEE 802.15-00/072r0 “Recirculation vs. Reconsideration”.

T Siep recommended the Reconsideration path.

8:48 I Gifford moved that motion #2, that IEEE802.15-00/038r0 “that the Working Group reconsider Letter Ballot #1”, be sent to the 802.15 Working Group. This motion was passed by unanimous consent within TG1.

9:00 I Gifford briefly discussed the EUI-64 letter to the RAC..

9:02 T Siep began discussion on SDLs with David Cypher, David asked what is the need for IEEE to do ANS1. The discussion direction turned toward discussing the question of the level of detail that the SDL should be developed. David suggested that if we verify behavior, this may be detailed enough for our SDL development. Comment: (D Cypher)- The names of the fields need to be agreed to first. Question: (D Cypher) Does the behavior of the SDL model match the behavior of the Bluetooth TTCN model? Note: (D Cypher) We are not testing the TTCN model with our SDL, and we are not testing our SDL model with the BT TTCN model. Matt Graney, Telelogic, was consulting. David suggested that we will have to write two SDL models, one for behavior and one for testing with the BT SIG Test and Certification group. T Siep suggested that we take a two step SDL approach, first: finish developing the SDL model for behavior verification, then convert those signal names in the behavior SDL model to the signal names needed for BT TTCN testing.

A Heberling will look at the BT TTCN structure and signal designations to address David’s issues and to rationalize/harmonize the SDL with the BT TTCN model. A Heberling suggested that we start an ANS1 package that mirrors the SDL package to make it easy to utilize with the BT TTCN test suite.

10:05 TG1 chair adjourned session for break

10:30 Meeting called back to order

10:30 Allen Heberling presented and discussed his SDL models with us.

10:46 It was decided that we could include the MSC (Message Sequence Charts) within the Draft Std. as an annex.

10:57 The question came up with A Heberling’s SDL models as to whether we will have two SDL models in our Standard, on where the HCI function is implied, and another where the HCI function is part of the SDL model. The most informative version is preferred which is was identified by A Heberling to be his SDL model version 1 where the HCI function is implied.

11:13 C Bisdikian suggested that an entity can be defined which combines both SDL models. D Cypher suggested that we go through each L2CAP signal to determine which signals require that an L2Cap connection to be set up and which ones do not.

11:24 C Bisdikian suggested that we go with SDL model two and describe the differences in the general overview section (section 5).

11:52 T Siep suggested (and C Bisdikian agrees) that we should go ahead with one (Allen’s version 1) normative SDL which matches the BT text, then provide a second SDL in the draft for informative reasons. Both of these SDL versions will be maintained.

12:00 I Gifford wanted to capture the action item to send a communication to the SIG on this discussion.

12:01 Ian adjourned the meeting for lunch.

1:20 TG1 chair opened the TG1 meeting.

1:22 A discussion began regarding the next version of the draft (0.7)and how comments will be made, responded to and incorporated during the voting process..

1:39 Since T Siep had not yet shown up to discuss SAP definitions this afternoon, the meeting was adjourned and ad-hoc meetings began on defining the L2CAP MLME and Pocket Guides.

Wednesday, March 08, 2000

8:15 TG1 chair opened the TG1 meeting

8:17 I Gifford modified the agenda (IEEE802.15-00/024r1). Motion to adopt was moved by T Siep seconded by M McInnis, following no objections the motion carried.

8:23 I Gifford announced that he will not be able to attend the May and July meetings.

8:30 Discussion ensued on plans for clause 8 (SAPS). It was decided that the SCO, LLC/L2CAP, and HCI SAPs will be defined in Clause 8, and a new clause (perhaps clause 6) will be created as an Architectural Overview describing the MLME concepts. Will send our diagrams to the BT Test and Verification group for concurrence on our approach.

9:02 I Gifford developed a draft release timeline that is included in document IEEE802.15-00/038.

9:03 T Siep went through the Copenhagen Face to Face minutes and the Action Items list in document 72r1

9:15 Arto Palin and Fujio Watanabe volunteered to begin working on the PICS

9:17 A telecon for March 16 with the Test group is proposed by T Siep to cover our co-simulation thoughts regarding TTCN and the SAP signal names. And perhaps set some SDL/BT Test Suite co-testing.

9:35 Meeting was adjourned for break.

10:16 Session reconvened.

TG1 Tech editor reviewed minutes from the Copenhagen meeting with BT SIG on SAPs, SDL, and PICs (IEEE802.15-00/074r1). Question: can we define a MAC/PHY interface? Reply: it’s not in our current plan. Action Item: T Siep to send Mårten Mattsson and attendees the status update and request both ASN.1 and Signal Names (with structures) from Mårten Mattsson.

10:57 Session adjourned

Thursday, March 09, 2000

8:28 TG1 chair called meeting to order

Discussion upon contents of the letter to the BT SIG, results are captured in document IEEE802.15-00/074r1.

10:25 Meeting adjourned.
