ONDCP Announces New Materials for Communities

"Above the Influence" Posters and Postcards for Teens

Customizable Open Letter Ads to African American and Hispanic Parents

As kids head back to school this month, the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign is making materials available to remind teens and parents that drugs harm academic achievement and performance in school.

Four new posters and two postcards that encourage teens to live "Above the Influence" are available free to communities, youth-serving organizations, and teens themselves.

ATI Materials include:

"Martin" (poster): This visual representation of the importance of talking to a friend about drug-use shows pieces of dialogue streaming from Martin's mouth.

"Myself" (poster): This poster displays a young girl looking at her blurred reflection, contemplating the effects that drugs have on her sense of identity.

"Landfill" (poster): A girl sitting on a landfill stresses that "friends aren't disposable," and can be helped through issues with drug abuse.

"Pressure" (poster and postcard): An arrow pushing through the word "pressure" urges teens to take a stand against the pressures they face to get high.

"Prom" (postcard): This postcard shows that like a frame with no picture, drugs and alcohol can strip teens of the memorable moments in their lives.

"Above the Influence" employs a series of advertisements and a Web site, AbovetheInfluence.com, to challenge teens to live above the negative pressures in their lives. The brand encourages youth to resist drug use by rejecting negative influences and empowers them to make positive choices.
