The HomeLink facility includes the church building, the brick house (formerly a parsonage) and the main HomeLink office area.
At the beginning of the year, students will sign a building-use form which states these expectations for personal conduct:
Stay on the HomeLink premises at all times. This is a closed campus.
Respectful conduct is expected outside and inside the classes.
Students not enrolled in HomeLink should not be on campus without parental supervision.
Students who are enrolled, should arrive just before class starts and leave as soon as their last class is finished.
If students have breaks between classes, they should be in one of these supervised areas:
1. Study hall (upstairs in main facility)
2. lunch room
3. assisting an advisor
4. With a parent
HOMELINK Dress Code submitted by the Virtue Study Class 2011
When dressing for class, select loose-fitting garments with sleeves and higher necklines. If wearing shorts, the longer variety is better. Courteous, modest comfort should be the guidelines.

Requirement for Students to Earn High School Credit
If a student turns age14 any time within the academic year (September 1 to August 31), he/she may earn high school credit, provided the work completed qualifies as high school level. The HomeLink grade card will report the grade earned each quarter. However, if the student needs official acknowledgment of the credit earned, registration with North Atlantic Regional High School is necessary. An official transcript regionally accredited by the Middle States Association ( is available by enrolling in NARHS This service will do the record-keeping for high school students working toward graduation requirements. More than record-keeping, this program also supplies consultant services, eases transfer credit, and enhances opportunities for college admission and scholarships. If the student is college-bound, this route is strongly recommended. Please talk to a staff member for more information. Special pricing is available for Homelink students.
Starting with the 2017-2018 school year, high school students will receive an accredited transcript of HomeLink courses. An additional charge of $10 a month will be added to the monthly invoice to cover the charge for this service. A family can opt out of the service by indicating on the registration form.

Class Attendance
Parents are invited to attend class at any time. Students should attend class every week. Missing a class means missing a week’s worth of work. If a student is unavoidably absent, send notice immediately either by calling the office 248-6388 and/or sending an email to the advisor. Assignments are posted on the website at Click on the class where it is listed on the blocked-out schedule. Then click on the date for which you need the assignment. Assignments are generally due one week from when they were given.
WEEKLY LATE-WORK POLICY
If a student does not hand in the work the day that it is due, that student will need to attend a Wednesday study class at HomeLink from 9 a.m. – 12 noon or until the work is finished.
The cost for this study class is $20 and will be billed to the parents. The advisor will notify the parent by phone on Tuesday afternoon if the student needs to attend the study session the next day.
DROPPING A CLASS
Students may drop a class after attending once without being charged. After attending the second class, if a student decides to drop, tuition will be charged, even if the student does not attend UNTIL the parent fills out a DROP form with the administrative assistant; a $25 drop fee will be charged.
Advisors are instructed to consistently keep the class as scheduled if at all possible. From time to time, there may be a substitute if the advisor needs to be absent. If the class time must be moved or cancelled THE PARENT WILL BE NOTIFIED BY PHONE.
If weather is making travel difficult, a closure notification will be broadcast on KIT radio, 1280 AM. Cancelled classes will be rescheduled if at all possible. HomeLink does not follow the school district’s 2-hour delay policy.
DISCIPLINE PROCEDURES AND POLICIES
Student conduct in class is expected to be respectful and cooperative. If the student behaves otherwise, a personal reminder will be given by the instructor. If the disruptive or uncooperative behavior continues, a parent will be asked to sit with the student during the next class time. If the student continues to lack acceptable levels of cooperation and respect, an independent study option will be recommended where the student meets privately once-a-week with an advisor for instruction and accountability. The cost of independent study is $25 per hour per week.
If a student and/or parent has a disagreement or issue with an advisor, HomeLink recommends that the family contacts the advisor first in order to resolve the questions and issues. If an understanding has not been reached after such a discussion, the parent is urged to invite the Business Manager to meet with the two parties to hear the different perspectives.

Parent Supervision at Home
HomeLink is not a school but rather recognizes the home as the legal school which keeps immunization records, school curriculum lists and course grades, decides the educational program, and oversees the student’s work. Therefore, HomeLink makes every effort to keep parents informed and equipped. Under this educational system, parents must collect and organize the assignment sheets, look at the student’s work to ensure it meets the standard of quality required, correct the assignments in a timely manner when requested, keep updated weekly with website information, and email the advisor if needed.
In order to use HomeLink services effectively, this is the process we recommend:
1. When the student arrives home from class(es), look over the assignment sheet(s) together.
If an assignment sheet has not arrived home, print off a copy from the website
, click on “classes”, click on the class displayed on the schedule then click on the date of the assignment needed.
2. Help the student schedule day-by-day the work that needs to be accomplished.
3. If you have any questions regarding any portion of the assignment, email the advisor.
4. Check in with your student at the beginning of each day to make sure he/she knows what to do. Check over the work to give the student feedback on work quality.
5. When the daily work is completed, check to make sure it has been done to the best of the student’s ability. On written work, questions should be answered by the student as completely as possible. For math assignments, work should be shown as well as the answers. Calculators should not be used.
6. Correct assignments daily so the student receives quick, effective feedback.
If the student needs to re-do any portion of the work, grade both attempts. Average the two grades together.
7. Assist the student through difficult work, but do not give answers or DO the work.
8. If tests are sent home, follow the guidelines given and send the test back to class in a sealed / signed envelope.
9. Among the records that home schooling parents must keep are the grade cards sent by HomeLink in the mail on a quarterly basis.

Tuition Payments & Fees
Tuition for classes is based on the complete program from September through June (10 months). This program includes class time, curriculum selection, course development, assignments and worksheets, grading, follow-up with absent students, family support and the cost of overhead. Since the program includes all these areas, tuition is due regardless of class attendance. For your convenience, tuition may be divided into 10 monthly payments. Therefore, there is a payment in June even though no classes are held that month. Tuition payments are due into the office by the 15th of the month. For those received after the 15th, a $10 late fee will be charged. Billings are sent at the end of each month that show parents the amount paid and still owed from the yearly total. Individual classes may also require materials fees which should be paid to the instructor on the first day of classes.
Quarterly reminders are in place to promote timely tuition payments. Student attendance for a quarter will depend on whether tuition payments are current. Registration for the next school year’s classes can be completed only if the previous year’s tuition has been paid in full.

North Atlantic Regional High School supplies accountability and ease in credit validation through consultation and transcript service. To verify the regional accreditation of NARHS go to click on “school search” and then type in “North Atlantic Regional High School.” Being registered with a regionally accredited program makes grades and credits transferable, eases admission into most colleges, and strengthens opportunities for scholarships.
Honors Classes
Biology, Chemistry and Physics classes, using the textbooks by Jay Wiles, Apologia, can earn “honors” designation on the transcript.
Volunteer Credit
We encourage students to contribute to their community in a positive way. Therefore,
high school students who would seek credit for volunteer hours invested should use the form found on the website to keep track of their hours, activities and supervisors. This form can be turned in at the yearly portfolio review.
30 hours = .25 credit, 60 hours = .50 credit, 90 hours = .75 credit, 120+ hours = 1 credit
To receive a grade, download from the website a GRADING TOOL FOR SELF-DESIGNED COURSES, to give to the supervisor(s) of the activity, so a grade can be determined using that form.
