Greetings,
Typically, I look upon September as a “new” refreshed beginning to the last part of the year. I do not have kids in school anymore but I am eager to get back into the activities of “normalcy” after a summer of play. I hope you are playing in your sewing room.
Thanks to Marie Peek for a unique color wheel presentation. Many participants found the “spinner” idea very useful. Jan Wilhelm will enlighten us on jacket construction this month.
Please take time to look at the final version of the by laws that we have worked so diligently on over the past 3 1/2 years. We are nearly there!
Work continues on behind the scenes to prepare for the Quilt Show next year, stay tuned.
Cheers,
Sally A.
Quilting Tips were not read at the August meeting. We will start again in September.
By-Laws Article IV
Dear members below is the attachment for the finale copy of the Article IV Changes.
Please read over and we will vote on accepting this copy into our By-Laws at the September meeting. Thank you for your patience and great suggestions in rewriting this section. We are almost to the end. I wish to thank the committee members who helped get this section going, Sally Acomb, Val Schultz, Anne Marie Meyer, and Faith Harris.

AFTER LUNCH PROGRAM - Gail Williams
Well, fall is just around the corner and this month our afternoon program is going to be featuring the person that is going to make us all look our best. Jan Wilhelm is going to have a trunk show on garment construction and strip piecing. Whenever Jan comes to one of our meeting dressed in one of her jackets we all say: “Wow, I wish I could do that”. Well, with Jan’s help we all will have to chance to walk into a room and get our own “WOW”. So bring a lunch, a tablet to take notes and just be prepared for a fun afternoon with our very own garment designer.
NATIONAL TEACHER PROGRAMS - Mary Munson, et al
THANK YOU Bobbi & Sally for all the work you did to bring us the great teachers we've enjoyed over the last years. Bobbi is now a part of the NYS consortium education committee and looking into us booking Vikki Pignatelli for a teaching day, and maybe another lecture also, before the consortium's Sept 16-17th, 2016 tradeshow at the Watson Homestead retreat center. This would be a fund raiser for us.
ALSO we would like to have 2 trunk shows on the off years that we do not have a national teacher. This could be a lecture from a national teacher who would be at another guild or quilt shop, or one of our talented 'local' teachers. We had a suggestion of bringing in a modern quilt artist for a trunk show. If you can think of any modern quilt artists let us know. Please forward any suggestions to Mary Munson or Gail Holmes about who you would like to see.
I would also like any suggestions for a teacher to come to our guild to teach quilting on a home sewing machine.
Mary & Gail
This exchange will be batik fabrics. Please purchase good quality batiks! Remember to wash your fabric and press it prior to cutting into 5" strips the width of the fabric. Then you will need to cut the strips in half. This will be the size of the exchange. ( 5 inches by approx 20-22 inches long). Approximately one and a quarter yards will be needed.
There are 15 people signed up for this exchange; so, there will be 15 bags on the round table at the meeting. Please be sure to check off your name in the book, then just drop a strip into each bag, and remember to remove your strips at the end of the meeting.
You may use any color you wish for this round of exchanges. However, you will need to have light colored batiks for September and October. Medium colors for November and December. Dark batiks for January and February.
Have fun and design some really great quilts!! Any questions, please let me know.
Changes in the Secret Pal adventure were discussed at the meeting. If you have any ideas, please contact Gail Holmes 585-394-7535 or
PAINT CHIP CHALLENGE:
It is "showtime!!!" or time for the Big Reveal. Your challenge piece is due this coming month of September. We had 32 people sign up. It will be interesting how many get to the finish line. Remember there is some leeway in the final completion as these won't be
shown until the quilt show in May.
Remember to attach your paint chip to your final creation. You will keep your challenge until the quilt show. Those of you in thelast throes of completion-----the push is on. Good luck. I am, and I'm sure lots of you are, anxious to see our final challenges.
Any question: Joan Danaher 585-393-1956 or
