Goshen Student Wins National Breakfast Breaks

Contest Encouraging Kids to Eat a Healthy Breakfast Every Morning

For Immediate Release:

On September 21, 2007 East Side Entrées, one of the nation’s leading suppliers of nutritious food products to schools, announced that a second grade student and the Goshen School District were the winners of the Breakfast Breaks™ WiiWin national contest. For the entire 2007-2008 school year East Side Entrées is giving away two Nintendo® Wii™ video game consoles every week as part of an ongoing initiative to motivate kids to eat a nutritious breakfast and take part in physical activity everyday.

The WiiWin contest rewards students who eat breakfast every morning by giving them the chance to win 2 Wii game consoles, one for them and the other for their school. In order to enter the contest, students complete a form found in every Breakfast Breaks box. The promotion is open to any school that serves Breakfast Breaks, and East Side Entrées is actively encouraging other districts to take part in the program.

“Studies show eating a nutritious breakfast everyday helps kids stay focused at school, helps reduce childhood obesity and fosters better eating habits so we wanted to come up with a creative way to get kids excited to eat healthy morning meals,” said Gary Davis, CEO, East Side Entrées. “We thought giving Wii consoles was a perfect compliment to the program because many of their games get kids up and moving which is a great way to promote physical activity.”

Breakfast Breaks is a grab-and-go meal that hundreds of thousands of kids across the country use every school day to eat a nutritious breakfast. When combined with a serving of milk, Breakfast Breaks provides 25% or more of the recommended levels of key nutrients kids need each day and meets USDA requirements for a reimbursable meal.
