ON FIELD VOLUNTEER AGREEMENT

In order to meet the standards of conduct as established by both Alderwood Little League (herein after “the League”) and those of Little League Baseball and Softball, the League has adopted the following rules and guidelines applicable to all managers, coaches and on field volunteers. By signing below, each volunteer agrees to the following:

  1. To abide by the Little League Baseball Official Regulations and Playing Rules, and the League’s own local rules including rules applicable to the use of the batting cages (Batting Cage rules are hereby incorporated as PAGE TWO OF THIS AGREEMENT-see back of document). Managers and coaches are responsible to familiarize themselves, and all other approved adult volunteers associated with their team, with these rules and follow them. This includes the Little League Rule Book Code of Conduct.
  2. Ensure that a Medical Release form for each player is physically present at each practice or game.
  3. The League will conduct a criminal background check and sexual registry search on all managers, coaches and any adult volunteering who may come in contact with minor children. Prospective managers and coaches agree they shall complete in full the required volunteer application and further agree to sign such other releases as may be requested by the League to obtain background information the League, in its discretion, deems necessary to determine the fitness or qualifications of said volunteers. The League agrees not use this information for any other purpose, and will maintain the confidentiality of all information collected. Managers are responsible for enforcing the proper wearing of the league issued photo ID badge for each of their team volunteers at all practices and games.
  4. To participate in and promote League events, including, but not limited to, fundraising activities, jamborees, picture days, and field work parties to prepare the fields for play.
  5. To participate in and attend League sponsored training sessions and meetings for managers, coaches and players
  6. To refrain from use of tobacco products or alcoholic beverages at practices or games, to never attend team events of any kind under the influence of alcohol or drugs, to avoid use of profane or obscene language or physical gestures, and to ensure all conduct is in accordance with law.
  7. To encourage fair play and sportsmanship by all team members and their parents, and to encourage respect by team members and their parents for the opposing team and the umpires.
  8. To report to the League on accident report forms available through the League all injuries which require medical attention or administration of first aid (no matter how slight). Prompt reporting of all injuries is essential to maintaining insurance coverage, and failure to timely report can jeopardize insurance coverage.
  9. To be responsible for the safeguarding and proper use of all League supplied equipment, facilities and uniforms, and at the end of the season at such time designated by the League to turn in to the League equipment manager all equipment issued, in the condition issued less ordinary wear and tear.
  10. To be responsible for the safeguarding and proper use the name and official logo of Alderwood Little League. This includes obtaining the written consent of the Board of Directors of the League, or its designee, for the use of the Alderwood Little League name or logo on any part of the uniform, or any tangible or intangible item.

The undersigned hereby agrees to comply with the above rules and expectations of conduct. The undersigned further acknowledges that the League has the sold discretion to suspend, discharge or impose conditions on the continued service of any manager, coach or adult volunteer at any time and for any reason when the League deems that a manager, coach or adult volunteer has violated this agreement or has engaged in conduct deemed detrimental to the Rules, Regulations and Principles of Little League Baseball & Softball, Alderwood Little League, or the health or welfare of the youth participating in the program.

BATTING CAGE RULES

  1. Use of the batting cages is strictly limited to players registered with Alderwood Little League. No other users allowed.
  2. The cages are supplied with helmets with face guards. Use of these helmets within the cage is mandatory. No exceptions.
  3. The cages are supplied with bats. These bats are encouraged to be used to avoid damage to team/player bats. All players may use their own bats without liability to Alderwood Little League for any potential damage.
  4. Only Alderwood Little League approved adult volunteers (i.e. over the age of 18) may operate the pitching machines.
  5. Players in the cages must have shoes on. No open toes.
  6. All Players should enter the cages through the West Doors. East doors are not to be used at any time.
  7. Be aware that the pitching machines do not always throw strikes. They can be erratic, just like human pitchers.
  8. No climbing on the batting cages.
  9. Please immediately report any equipment damage or malfunctions to the office. Do not operate machine if there has been a malfunction.
  10. Report all injuries to the League office immediately.
  11. When the machines are in use, only the one batter (AND NO ONE ELSE) may be in the cage. The manager or coach must be inside the pitching machine house, and may not enter the cage area while the machine is operating. If a manager or coach wants to enter the cage to provide individual instruction, the pitching machine must be turned off first.
  12. As an alternative to using the pitching machines, managers or coaches may provide live pitching in the cages, so long as the manager or coach pitches from behind pitching screens in the cages.
  13. Do not play soft toss against the batting cage fencing.
  14. Please clean up after yourselves! Put away balls, bats, machines, and clean up trash. When you leave, be sure to lock the pitching machine houses and the gates to the cages.
  15. The League specifies maximum pitching machine speeds as follows:
  16. Rookie, Farm and AAA: 35 mph
  17. Majors: 50 mph
  18. Juniors and Seniors: 65 mph
