Housing Options 2003-04

On-Campus Housing – University Owned

EFL students may choose to live on the University of the West Indies campus. Here students have the opportunity to meet and interact with our local, regional and international students. Living on campus is a great way to experience university life in the Caribbean. Students can also take advantage of having all university facilities at their fingertips when they stay on-campus.

Students have the choice of double and single rooms at the university residences. However, it is very important to make an early booking (at least two (2) months in advance) and to pay the room deposit (TT$500/ US$85) in order to be guaranteed accommodation.

There are three on-campus university residences to choose from.

Milner Hallwas part of the original Imperial College of Tropical Agriculture which was acquired by the University in 1960.It is conveniently located five minutes away from the Centre of Language Learning where most EFL classes are held. It is at the eastern end of campus and can accommodate 155 students (both male and female). Single and double rooms are available at Milner Hall.

Trinity Hallwas built with funds provided by the Friends of the University under the Chairmanship of the late Chancellor, the Rt. Hon. Sir Hugh Wooding. Located in the heart of the university, Trinity Hall is at the eastern end of campus opposite the Faculty of Humanities and Education building. The Main UWI Library, the Student Activities Centre (SAC) and the Sports and Physical Education Centre (SPEC) are just minutes away from Trinity Hall. This hall of residence has three floors and accommodates 142 people. Trinity Hall houses only women during the semester period. Both men and women are accommodated during the Summer period only. Single and double rooms are available upon request.

Canada Hallwas built with fund provided by Canada under the Commonwealth Caribbean Assistance Programme. It is situated at the southern end of campus, close to the Student Activities Centre. The Main UWI Library is within walking distance of Canada Hall. Single and double rooms are available for 160 men.
