HVLP 2726 HIGH VOLTAGE LINEMAN CAPSTONE EXPERIENCE

The designing of distribution, transmission, and underground systems, and includes the procuring and estimating of the material involved in these systems. Local rules and regulations, as well as electrical codes are covered as they pertain to these types of installations. Reviews the high voltage lineman procedures learned in previous courses as needed. Safety practices are emphasized as students work with various types of material and equipment in this hands-on course.

Course Purpose: To review, apply and test students over all topics and skills that were administered to students to successfully complete the High Voltage Program. To prepare students for upcoming interviews and evaluations for job placement.

Type of Course: Theory/Lab

Credit Hours: 6; Total hours of theory per semester: 60;

Total hours of lab for the semester: 90;

Class Length: 2nd half

Class Format: Hybrid Class Days and Times: All Fridays 2nd half of semester. 8;00 am to 11:30 pm

Prerequisites: HVLP 2643 and completed four (4) High Voltage Internships.

Grades will be posted on D2L/ OSUIT on line class roo *The student’s grade for this assignment will be used in the university’s assessment of student learning. A 70% competency or higher receives a Pass rating. This Pass/Fail rating is independent of the student’s course grade.

Daily and/or weekly quizzes, small weekly assignments and similar type projects: Normal return time to student by next class meeting or no later than one (1) week.

Extensive assignments, large lab projects, extensive quizzes, exams and similar type projects: Normal return time to students in one (1) to two (2) weeks.

AUTHORIZED TOOLS

Students may use any/all course materials, including books and notes, while participating in classroom activities. All quizzes and written assignments are to be completed independently; no collaboration with classmates is permitted and any instance of such will be considered academic dishonesty.

LATE WORK

No late work is accepted, unless excused absence as defined under definitions in this syllabus. Be sure to always contact the instructor as soon as possible if any class time will be missed.

TESTING

Testing will be completed during class period. No test will be made up except for excused absence defined under definitions in this syllabus. Test may be made up if a student misses class time for job purposes and will be determined under the discretion of the instructor.
