ES3640 MFP Gas Spring Upgrade Program

Oki Data will be upgrading all ES3640 MFP scanner stands that are installed in the field, as well as those in inventory. Here are answers to questions you may have about the process.

Q1.Why is Oki Data upgrading the scanner stands?

A1. In an effort to continuously improve our products; our engineers have made improvements to the ES3640 MFP scanner stand in order to ensure the smoothest possible movement of the scanner and optimal functionality of the device.

Q2.What did Oki Data do to improve the scanner stand?

A2. We are upgrading the gas springs that affect the scanner table,in order to ensure the smoothest possible movement of the scanner and optimal functionality of the device.

Q3.Does this affectmy ES3640 MFPs in stock, or in the field?

A3.It affectsboth types. We are asking our Elite Dealers to upgrade the scanner stands on all ES3640 MFPs currently operating at customer locations AND in your facility. We will reimburse our Elite Dealers for expediting this replacement effort. We will supply the necessary number of kits which include enough upgrade parts for each scanner stand, along with a separate kit that includes toolsand complete instructions for this upgrade. We require that all replaced gas springs be shipped back to Oki Data, at our expense.

Q4.When will I receive the kits to perform this upgrade?

A4.You will receive a packet, including a letter, the instruction manual detailing the complete process, and a fax document that needs to be read, signed, and faxed back to Oki Data at (856)-222-5010. When Oki Data receives this faxed sheet, we will place an order to initiate the shipment of the correct numbers of both Tool and Parts kits. These are scheduled to ship the week of February 12th. If anything changes, we will let your dealership know.PLEASE NOTE: An order will not be initiated for shipment until the Fax Back Form is completed and received by Oki Data.

Q5. How much will I be reimbursed by Oki Data for replacement installation?

A5. Oki Data will reimburse our Elite Dealers at a rate of $300 for each stand upgrade completed within 60 business days after receiving the kits. The rate is $200 per upgrade after 60 business days.

Q6.Where do I find the instructions to upgrade the scanner stand?

A6.The instructions are included in the tool kit that will be sent to you. In addition, complete instructions and an overview of the procedure will be found on the BPX web site.

Q7. How are the original gas springsbeing returned to Oki Data?

A7. The gas springs are to be returned in the same packaging the new gas springs were shipped in. Oki Data will supply the return labels in order to track all returns. You will receive detailed instructions on this return process.

Q8.How will I get my scanner stand upgraded?

A8. Contact the dealer from whom you purchased the scanner stand to schedule an upgrade.

Q9.Can I perform the scanner stand upgrade?

A9.No. This process must be performed by a qualified and authorized Oki Data MFP Elite Dealer Technician who has received upgrade training and will use specialized tools.

Q10.How does this affect the product warranty?

A10.There are no changes to the product warranty related to this upgrade provided that the upgrade is performed by an Oki Data Authorized Dealer technician.

Q11. Do the changes to the stand affect other MFP products like the ES1624 MFP?

A11.No. These changes are only designed for the ES3640 MFP product series.
