All-County Honor Chorus 2015-2016

The Philosophy of the Okaloosa All-County Honor Chorus is to provide the choral students and teachers of Okaloosa County, Florida with a musical growth opportunity which reflects excellence, artistry, diversity, and enriches the choral experiences currently offered in each choral music classroom. The All-County chorus is an Honor chorus, intended for the students in each individual choral program that have demonstrated accomplished vocal ability, outstanding overall musicianship, and exceptional choral behavior. Students are to be selected by audition at the school level, and must agree to all policies of the Okaloosa County Vocal Association All-County Honor Chorus. No student will be allowed to participate in All-County without a signed contract.

Please study this notice carefully and thoroughly. All policies WILL be enforced.

Rehearsal/Performance Schedule

All rehearsals and performances are REQUIRED.

Appeals may be heard by the coordinator of the individual chorus.

All rehearsals are from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm unless otherwise noted.

September 14: Rehearsal: at Crestview High

September 28:Rehearsal: at Niceville High School

October 5: Rehearsal: at Choctawhatchee High School

October 12:Rehearsal: at Fort Walton Beach High School

On-site rehearsals:

High School – 5:00 – 5:20 pm

7/8 Mixed – 5:25 – 5:45 pm

7/8 Treble – 5:50 – 6:10 pm

Mass Choir – 6:10 – 6:30 pm

Please arrive 15 minutes before your assigned on-site rehearsal time.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

Being selected as a member of the Okaloosa All-County Honor Choir has certain privilegesand responsibilities that help to make it an outstanding musical experience for all involved. As a result, you are asked to carefully read all expectations, and sign below in order to be eligible to participate in this event.

Each participating singer will agree:

1)to attend each rehearsal, both days of actual Honor Choir clinic, and the final performance. There are no exceptions to this expectation;

2)to arrive at rehearsals, clinic, and performance ON TIME, and to remain for the entire event;

3)to bring actual sheet music (no copies) for ALL pieces to each rehearsal, clinic, and performance (if required), and paper/pencils for rehearsal notes;

4)to participate in the performance of ALL the selected literature, with the knowledge that the music has been selected on the basis of musical, historical and literary value, rather than any particular belief or philosophy;

5)to give their best musical effort at each rehearsal, clinic and performance. This includes singing to the best of my ability, not engaging in any unsolicited talking, good posture, no chewing gum, and no cell phones in the rehearsal/clinic/performance setting;

6)to have the music well-rehearsed and prepared;

7)to behave at all times in an appropriate mannerthat will bring honor to me individually, my school, my director, and my parents/guardians;

8)to dress at rehearsals and clinicsaccording to school dress code, and to wear the appropriate uniform for the final performance.

Please sign and return to your choral director before the first rehearsal. No student will be allowed to participate without a signed agreement presented at the first rehearsal
