4.  Your application will not be considered by the Scholarship Committee without the supporting documentation. Incomplete scholarship applications may lead to delays or failure to qualify for a scholarship.

5.  Scholarships are awarded prior to each season. The deadline for submitting scholarship applications is August 1. Late scholarship applications will qualify for fewer remaining scholarship dollars.

6.  The majority of the scholarship awards are partial scholarships which means you will have a balance to pay in your club account. You will automatically be enrolled in a payment plan if you have a balance after a scholarship award. The length of payment plans varies but most will allow you to make 3 to 8 payments depending upon when you are approved for a scholarship award. You must adhere to the payment plan deadlines or your player’s card will be pulled until payments are current.

7.  Knowingly applying for scholarship funds when a financial hardship does not exist may result in your player losing NCAA amateur status if he/she decides to play collegiate soccer, making your player ineligible for collegiate soccer.

BOISE NATIONALS TIMBERS SC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

BNT is a non-profit organization; however, in order to offer a strong and professional program that is comprised of several services, a budget sizable enough to meet program needs is required. Yet, BNT is also committed to supporting an athlete who has the ability to play competitive soccer regardless of his/her family’s financial situation. Not all families are financially capable of paying the club assessment. To meet the needs of those families with extenuating financial circumstances, BNT offers a needs-based scholarship program.

The scholarship program combined with fundraising opportunities enables financially challenged families to defray some of their soccer costs. This program is a partnership among the member, team and club in which each partner has a role, responsibility and is accountable.

THE BNT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM WORKS AS FOLLOWS:

·  A scholarship is available to qualified players to defray some of his/her club assessment.

·  Scholarship recipients are required to complete 10 volunteer hours during the course of the year. Your volunteer commitment can be at the team and/or club level. You will be required to submit a BNT Volunteer Hours Form documenting your hours. You will also complete a BNT Volunteer Form listing the team/club volunteer activities you plan to participate in for the coming season.

·  Uniform and attire costs remain the responsibility of the family.

·  Team costs, such as tournaments, showcases, team bonding activities, etc. are funded through the family’s participation in club and team fundraisers and making regular payments to the player’s account.

The initial step begins with the family completing a Scholarship Application and returning it to the BNT Office by the deadline. The BNT Scholarship Committee receives and evaluates all the completed applications, and allocates sums based on a limited scholarship budget.

To be eligible to apply for and receive a needs-based scholarship, a player and family must:

·  Be selected as a BNT player and submit the application before the deadline. Late submissions will not be accepted unless waived by the BOD scholarship chairperson.

·  Provide and discuss personal financial documents.

·  Aggressively participate in club and team functions and fundraisers (a minimum of 10 hours required).

·  Agree to a formal payment plan. (Failure to follow through w/payment plan will result in the player card being pulled)

The BNT Scholarship Committee will evaluate each scholarship to ensure that the recipient is meeting all requirements and responsibilities as well as honoring the spirit of the program. The BNT Scholarship Committee treats Scholarship Applications with strict confidentiality.

Upon approval of the scholarship by the committee, the Club Treasurer will reduce the applicable team’s overall club assessment by any scholarships granted to members of that particular team. If a scholarship request is denied, then the BNT Scholarship Committee will send a letter to the family that outlines the reasons for denying the request. A copy of the letter will be kept in the BNT Scholarship Committee files for future reference. You can access the BNT Scholarship Application online at boisenationals.com
