CO-MUN is being hosted by NW Colorado BOCES and you may call their central office if you have questions or concerns. They will be able to get messages to your students as well. The number is 970-879-0391, ask for Julie Dalke or Amy Bollinger. This year’s forum will be held at Colorado Mountain College’s (CMC’s) Alpine Campus in Steamboat Springs. (1275 Crawford Ave. Steamboat Springs, CO 80487) The phone number is 970-870-4444, ask for Jory Slingerland. Students will be spending the night in the Hill Hall Dormitory on campus and will need to bring a pillow and sleeping bag. SCHEDULE
Your child will depart from school at ______AM on Tuesday May 13th in order to make it to CMC between11:00- 11:45AM for registration. The Welcome Session & Lunch will start promptly at 12:00 followed by Council Sessions from 1:00-4:30. Students will then have a break before Dinner & Social from 5:45-8PM. Breakfast at 8:00AM will be immediately followed by the General Assembly from 8:30-12. Students should be on the road back to school by 12:30 which means they will need to be picked up at school at ______PM on Wednesday May 14th.
REGISTRATION FEE
Three meals are included with the registration fee: lunch upon arriving, a dinner that evening, and breakfast the next morning. Delegates traveling from afar should bring money for lunch on May 14th, and additional snacks as needed. The registration fee also covers lodging and the rental of CMC. Please get a check to your advisor in the amount of $______made payable to your school by ______.
CLOTHING
Business dress or a native outfit is to be worn by delegates to all CO-MUN activities, except for the evening activity where dress will be “casual-tasteful”. Absolutely no jeans and/or t-shirts can be worn in lieu of the native outfit or business dress for formal meetings. All dress must be in good taste at all times, including native outfits.
MEDICAL RELEASE
Advisors must have forms with them at the time of registration. Official School District Medical Forms, including a medical release section containing parent permission in case a participant must receive medical treatment are required in order for any student to participate in the May 2015 CO-MUN Forum. If your school district’s medical form does not include the parent release, your advisor will send home CO-MUN’s Medical Release Form, please return it by ______.
WHAT IS CO-MUN?
Your child will be representing the nation of ______at the Colorado Model United Nations Forum in May. They have been working hard to research this nation and develop a resolution. They will present their resolutions and engage in lively debate with the other nations who are sending delegates to the Forum. Every effort will be made to make this event be as similar to the real UN Convention as possible; it will be a unique, dynamic, and memorable learning experience for your child.
