ADVERTISEMENT FOR FILLING THE POSTS OF SEPOYS/ GESTETNER OPERATOR (GROUP’D’, NON GAZATTED, NON MINISTERIAL ) CENTRAL EXCISE AND CUSTOMS, AHMEDABAD SECTOR.
Applications are invited for the post of Sepoys/ Gestetner Operator (tick the post applied for) from eligible candidates to be appointed in Central Excise and Customs, Ahmedabad Sector, details of which are given below in the proforma as given in Annexure ‘A’.
1. Post : Temporary post of Sepoys/ Gesterner Operator (tick the post applied for)
2. Scale : 2610-60-2910-65-3300-70-4000
3. Educational qualification for Direct Recruits :
For Sepoy : Middle standard pass from recognized school.(VIII pass)
For Gestetner Operator : Middle standard pass from recognized school. .(VIII pass)
Proficiency in handling and operating Cyclostyling machine
4.Physical Standards:
For Sepoy:
Candidates will be required to possess the physical standards and pass physical test as specified below :
For male candidates :
Physical standard (minimum):
Height – 157.5 cms. (relaxable by 5 cms in case of Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas and members of the Schedule Tribes)
Chest : 81 cms. ( fully expanded with minimum expansion of 5 cms.)
Physical test : Walking – 1600 meters in 15 minutes
Cycling – 8 kms in 30 minutes.
For Female candidates :
Physical standard (minimum):
Height – 152 cms.
Weight – 48 kgs.
(Height relaxable by 2.5 cms and weight by 2 kgs in case of Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas and members of the Schedule Tribes)
Physical test : Walking – 1 Km in 20 minutes
Cycling – 3 kms in 25 minutes

6. Age : 18 to 27 years as on 29 /02 /2008
Extent of age-concessions:
(i) Relaxable upto 5 years in the case of SC/ST.
(ii) Upto maximum of 3 years if a candidate belongs to OBC.
(iii)Every Ex-Serviceman who has put in not less than six months continuous service in the Armed Force of the Union shall be allowed to deduct the period of such service from his actual age and if the resultant age does not exceed the maximum age-limit prescribed for the post or service for which he seeks appointment by more than three years he shall be deemed to satisfy the conditions regarding age-limit.
(iv) Territorial army personnel, who have served on the permanent staff of a territorial army unit or have been embodied for service under TA rule 33 for continuous period of not less than six months
Extent of Age relaxation : Entire period of embodied service (including broken period ) in the territorial army plus three years.
(iv) upto 5 years (upto 10 years for members of Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes ) for meritorious sportspersons
(v) upto the age of 35 years (upto 40 years of age for members of Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes) in the case of widows ; divorced women and women judicially separated from their husbands and who are not remarried.
(vi) upto 40 of age for Departmental Candidates with 3 years continuous service and upto 45 years of age for departmental candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes
(vii) Whole time cadet instructors in NCC
(a) who were released from NCC after the expiry of their initial/ extended tenure.
Extent of Age relaxation - period of service rendered in NCC plus three years.
(b) who were released from NCC before the expiry of their initial/ extended tenure.
Extent of Age relaxation - period of service rendered in NCC plus three years provided they have served in NCC for a period of not less than six months prior to their release from NCC.
Note :
(i) Persons who claim to belong to the Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes and OBC would have to produce a caste certificate issued in the prescribed form issued by the Judicial/ Revenue Authorities.
(ii) Ex-Serviceman : proof of Ex-serviceman
(iii) Sportspersons : proof of representing the Country/ State/ UT/ Universities/ Inter-University Sports etc
7.Procedure for submission of application :
The application should be submitted in the prescribed FORMAT only. The application should be written in capital letter, either in English, Hindi, Gujarati and not in any other language. The application has to be duly dated and signed by the candidates. The application should be submitted by ordinary Post only at the below mentioned address.

8. Documents to be attached with the application :
(i) Attested copies of certificates and mark statement showing age and educational qualification.
(ii) Attested copies of documents in support of claim of Caste (SC/ST/OBC).
(iii) Attested copies of documents in support of claim of Ex-serviceman/ Sportsperson.
(iv) A lady candidate who claims age relaxation shall be required to produce a copy of the judgment/ decree of the appropriate court to prove the facts of divorce or the judicial separation.
(v) Attested copies of documents in support of claim of age-relaxation.
(vi) One recent passport size photograph, duly signed on the front by the candidates should be pasted (not stamped) on the space provided in the Application form. An other copy of the same photo should be submitted with application form.
(vii) On the envelope forwarding the application please write “FOR RECRUITMENT OF GROUP’D’ POST (SEPOY / GESTETNER OPERATOR)”(please specify the post applied for) mentioning therein if applied for Reservation categories i.e. S.C/ S.T./OBC/ Ex-serviceman/ Sports Quota on top of the envelope.
One self-addressed envelop of 12 cms x25 cms size, which must be affixed with sufficient postage stamp.
9. All qualified applicants passing the mandatory physical test, may have to appear for oral (viva voce) test.
10 Only applications complete in all respect shall be accepted and incomplete applications are likely to be rejected and the final decision will be taken by the recruitment officer.
11. The decision of the recruitment officer will be final in case of cancellation of recruitment/ postponement/ any changes in the number of posts to be filled up .
12. The applications received after the specified closing date due to postal delays will not be entertained in any circumstances by the recruitment officer.
