Organization of diencephalic circuits and synaptic plasticity, with special reference to sleep-wake regulation.Neuroinflammation signaling and neural-immune interactions in brain aging and in disease (neurodegenerative diseases; seizures and epilepsy; brain infections). History of neuroscience

Invited lecturer in many national and international institutions, she has participated in or organized numerous symposia and workshops in national and international conferences.

Among grants, she has participated as Partner to six international consortia funded by the European Commission and has coordinated one of them.
