MemorialHermannNortheastHospital

Offers Physicals to Humble ISD Athletes

HUMBLE – Volunteer physicians affiliated with MemorialHermannNortheastHospital will offer on-site sports physicals to Humble ISD middle and high school athletes during April and May.

The single-day events will take place at SummerCreekHigh School, KingwoodHigh School, AtascocitaHigh School and HumbleHigh School.

There is a $20 charge per student that will go to the Student Activity Fund.

Physicals are required by the University Interscholastic league (UIL) and Humble ISD for any student who wishes to participate in athletics.

Test results will be reported to each athlete on site along with recommended follow-up if problems are detected.

“The safety and wellness of our student athletes are of the utmost importance to us,” said Krista Malmstrom, co-athletic director at Humble ISD. “By partnering with MemorialHermannNortheastHospital, we are providing the best medical resources possible for our athletes.”

MemorialHermannNortheastHospital is the official sponsor of Humble ISD athletics and, over the past year, has sponsored a wide range of educational programs and screenings for the coaches and athletic trainers as well as the students and their parents. The programs include CPR classes, middle school physicals, heart screenings, and a Coaches Concussion Conference.

“As active members of our community, we’re honored to assist our student athletes and to work in partnership with Humble ISD by providing physicals in their schools,” said Heath Rushing, service line administrator at MemorialHermannNortheastHospital. “We are very fortunate to be in a position to provide this much-needed service and we are very grateful to our volunteer physicians for making these events possible.”
