Notes of the last meeting and matters arising

Contact centre:

Off peak times: 8.30 to 9.30 am (not Mondays), and 12 noon to about 1.30 pm

Nicola was passed on from person to person and on hold for 10 minutes, and then 20 minutes to be told that was she needed could be done on line. She was not too impressed on that occasion but another time, it took only 5 minutes.

Amanda has mentioned issues about the contact centre on her monitoring report.

As a LIG, we know of the issues and LIG chairs will be addressing it to the Partnership Board meeting.

LIG reps update

The relationship topic has been discussed in the advocacy group. Some things are good in the day as there are plenty of things to do and people to see. In the evening, it is different.

Adult services is generally Okay.

Health: appointments are changed at the last minute. Helga gave an example.
LIG members: please let us know if this is hospital/community/therapy/GP etc – We need more details.

Everyone could do better in advocacy.

Buses around Basingstoke are easy to use, bus passes are good but buses can be late. There are messages on the buses but if people cannot read, it is pointless.

Digital time is OK.

Google app: pronunciation can be interesting!

Support providers and health could help by keeping the old relationships going and helping finding new friends.

Friday network: not enough opportunities face to face but there is plenty on line if you can use a computer.

Recommendation from Friday network last week: to appoint Richard as a LIG rep.

Partnership Board meeting:

Next meeting is on 28th June.

  • Contact centre update
  • LD plan review
  • Co-chair elections
  • AOBs

Transport matters:

Hart & Rushmoor passenger transport: the last meeting was back in May 2016. Ian wants to know more about the new operating model as the presentation was cut short last year due to lack of time.

The agenda will be:

  • update
  • local buses
  • community operating model.

Basingstoke: Still issues with Dial a Ride (short staff).

Train Operator is changing from July.

Disabled bus passes: do not cater for people on the autism spectrum. Contact autism board? Is the application form fit for purpose?

Everyone is welcome to attend as it is an open meeting. The more people with LD/disability, the more the meetings will become LD friendly (but it will take some time).

Andrew Vatavu - HCC

A few people from the LIG have used the website.

The local Mencap does not have its own page. there are many local Mencap around. Andrew will have a look. Same with National Autistic Society (there is a Hampshire Branch), Mind, Alzheimer Society etc. they all have local branches.

If you are a provider, please check that you have your details on Connect to Support.

Andrew said you can suggest a group by pressing the feedback button on the side. You can also use the feedback button to give information that could be useful.

Andrew also mentioned that he was promoting the website to Hart & Rushmoor. He has sent many emails/information to groups in the area and will be engaging with medical centres and libraries in the area.

Any ideas, possible groups – please speak or email Andrew at

Tania mentioned the room that they use at Farnborough Library.
