JOB TITLE:Van Driver

PAY RATE: $9 - $14/hour
SCHEDULE:Monday- Friday 2:00pm-6:00pm (Schedule varies during summer months).

BASIC FUNCTION:
The Van driver position is part-time with hours generally between 2:00pm-6:30pm, Monday-Friday. This position is designed to assist and support the Education & Family Development program. Works with direct supervisor to establish transporting routes and ensuring the vehicle operation is in a safe operating condition and ensuring safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from vehicle. Maintains vehicle in good condition, including having repairs completed, cleaning , fueling and inspecting of vehicle for safety.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist studentsby providing asafe loading and unloading from van.
- Attend safety meeting and trainings for the purpose of maintaining skills and meeting professional development requirements.
- 20 hours of annual training as required by the Department of Human Services.
- Maintain a current First Aid/CPR card
- Drives van for transporting students on routes from school and afterschool program in a safe and timely manner.
- Prepare documentation and reports to direct supervisor incidents, inspection, passenger misconduct, mileage, etc.
- Maintains van both interior and exterior to ensure safety, appearance, and sanitation of vehicle.
- Perform daily vehicle maintenance inspection.
- Assisting in routine student activities such as snack/meals, clean-up/set-up, field trips, hands on projects, instruction, teaching materials and equipment.
- Meets the annual objectives/goals.
- Assist with tracking program services, progress, and results in agency’s outcomes data management tool.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicant must be able to pass a background check, have CPR/First Aide training and possess or obtain the Safe Kids with 15 passenger van training. Applicant must demonstrate strong leadership qualities, a commitment to improving the lives of youth and an appreciation for a variety of learning styles. Applicants must be able to react to stressful situations that could save a child’s life. Applicants should be well organized and responsive to students’ needs. Applicants should demonstrate an understanding of a variety of teaching techniques and sound discipline techniques to ensure a safe environment for students.Specific skills required satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: safe driving practices and van maintenance repair knowledge. Must be able to communicate and promote a positive interaction with diverse student groups.Must have strong group management skills with children.Must be punctually and have a valid Oklahoma Drivers License and at least 3 years of successful employment in related position is preferred, but not required. Combination of education and work experience can be substituted.
