MacbethScript Writing and Scene Presentations

For this project, you will work to create and perform your ownmini-play of Macbeth.

Tasks:

  1. Decide which portion of the play you will perform.

Act I- (Prophecy and a Plan to Murder: Three Witches, Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Banquo, Duncan)

Act II-(Murder of Duncan, Lady Macbeth & dagger, Hallucinations, Odd Natural Events)

Act III-(Murder of Banquo, Dinner Party and Ghost of Banquo)

 You may use flash backs to explain events in the past. You may also use a narrator or host to quickly “sum up” previous events that occurred before the opening of your scene.

  1. Write your own original script. Be creative (Wild West Macbeth, Star Wars Macbeth, Oprah Interviews the Victims and Murderers of the Macbeth Tragedy, Macbeth Musical,). Your script must be the entire scene you choose.

Overall, your script may be original and different from the original play, but it must capture the “big ideas” found in Macbeth.

Although you are encouraged to be creative and humorous in your scripts, your scripts must be school appropriate. Inappropriate dialogue or actions is unacceptable. You may change the setting and time to match your version.

You may change character names, but try to create names that reference the characters in Macbeth.

You may expand on events in the play.

  1. The goal of this project is not for you to simply read from the text one more time while standing up. Instead, you are to present scenes in a creative and entertaining format showing the class that you understand what occurred during the scene. Find creative ways to recreate the scenes we have read about (moving forest, hallucinations, etc.). You need to create a new version of the text (modern words, kung-fu style, old western, etc.)
