Fast Food Fun

Objective: Use the Internet and spreadsheets to find calories in a typical fast food meal.

Procedure:

Step One:

Choose 3 fast food restaurants you would like to visit. Locate the website for each restaurant and find the nutritional values. Once there, plan a meal with a sandwich, salad, or other main dish, a side dish, drink and a dessert. For example: Big Mac, Fries, Medium Coke, and Oreo Flurry.

Step Two:

For each item on the menu, record the total calories in a spreadsheet (See example of how to set up your spreadsheet below.) Once you have entered the information for each of your selected meals, total your calories for each restaurant (Use AutoSum). At the bottom of your spreadsheet, do a “Restaurant Comparison” chart (See below). List each of your restaurant names and the total number of calories for your selected meals.

Step Three:

You'll be making four charts to go along with your spreadsheet. Save each of them as a separate sheet and label the sheet tabs accordingly. The first 3 charts will be for each of your restaurants with the food items and calories for each item. The 4th chart will display the comparisons of the totals for the three selected restaurants. Be creative!!!!!!!!

Step Four:

FORMATTING

·  At least two of your charts should be a pictograph. Your restaurant comparison chart of the totals from the three restaurants must be a pictograph.
