Objective of the Job

OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB

Support the profitable growth strategy of the UK Business Unit BU by planning and tracking the trade investment strategy and co-ordinating the related trade investment budget, with the aim of creating value for the company and the customer.

Provides front line Financial support to Commercial Director, operating as a key part of the Senior Management Team

Reports to the Commercial Director, UK and Ireland

PRIMARY RELATIONSHIPS

Internal: - Commercial functions of Sales, Category, Marketing, Commercial Operations, Supply Chain. Divisional Finance

External: - Some customers (occasional)

Key Result Area 1: Reporting
·  Provide powerful and insightful analysis of all Key Performance Indicators in order to monitor and report on the implementation of strategic and tactical plans, develop gap analysis and identify opportunities and risks arising
·  Report on the long term business plan – monitoring progress against the AOP on a monthly and quarterly basis.
·  Work with Key Account Managers/cross functional team to track progress towards volume and revenue targets by channel and by customer.
·  Provide reporting analysis to explain variances against last year, budget and forecast.
Key Result Area 2: Sparring Partner
·  Establish effective relationships with all senior members of the management team to develop creible knowledge and understanding of the sector, its challenges and opportunities
·  Support cross functional teams with a commercial finance viewpoint on key customer/account negotiations
·  Support and advise the local account teams during trade negotiations with key accounts.
·  Monitor and challenge the sales forecast by channel/customer and investigate variances to plan.
Alert cross functional teams to possible business risks and co-ordinate actions to address.
Key Result Area 3: Financial Analysis
·  Work with Key Account Managers in the construction of the JBP via evaluation of promotional effectiveness, product mix and trading terms.
·  Provide direction to the sales team to maximise sales, revenue and profitable growth (ROI)
·  Advise on tactical choices relating to customer and product portfolio by making simulations by customer/account and SKU level
·  Provide gross to net input to the BU for the AOP
·  Shape development, execution and monitoring of net revenue realization through cost price
Key Result Area 4: Improvement and Business Development Projects
·  Support commercial improvement projects
Key Result Area 5: Budgeting and forecasting
·  Support the CD and Management team through the preparation of the AOP, budgets and financial reports and providing advice and guidance on financial strategy
·  Co-ordinate the delivery of the net net sales results across the BU.
·  Build, manage, track and evaluate trade investment and promotional budgets used for driving volume and revenue
·  Plan and track the key drivers of net sales for the BU through TM1 and CDP
·  Manage systems and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management of the BU finances

DEGREE AND/OR LEVEL OF EDUCATION REQUIRED FOR THE JOB

·  Strong accounting knowledge ideally through a professional qualification (CIMA, ACA, ACCA)
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE JOB
·  Understanding of retail trade condition structure and Gross to Net accounting methodology
·  Commercial mindset ideally from an FMCG environment
·  Experience in business partnering with non-finance stakeholders
·  Highly proficient MS Excel and data manipulation skills
technical skills required for the job (technical expertise)
·  Ability to challenge, negotiate and influence positively across a broad range of stakeholders
·  Ability to identify risks and issues and propose solutions in a fast paced and changing environment
·  Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships including ability to work closely and communicate with both financial and non-financial people.
·  Ability to deliver fast ‘helicopter view’ commercial financial analysis as well as bottom up detailed modeling
·  Ability to plan, organize and prioritise workload in order to meet strict reporting deadlines
·  Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills
·  Able to articulate complex matters in a simple way
·  Previous experience of working in a business that has been through strong growth would be an advantage
