Discussion

Sukumar welcomed everyone; Greg provided everyone with a brief overview of his request

Elysa mentioned that Jamie (from OASIS) could potentially help with Task 2 of Greg’s Request For Assistance (RFA) document. Greg promised to post the Discussion Paper on the EM CAP Profiles SC repository. Greg solicited informal comments from the group and the group agreed to provide informal comments by 29 of April.

Sukumar took the action item to email the group and solicit potential dates/times for scheduling a regular conference call of the CAP Profiles SC

Doug asked Greg to clarify on the actual product that will be developed – an OASIS specification or a review from the SC, with the approval of the TC? Elysa mentioned that since Greg wants to put the document on the OASIS site, it may need to be a SC/TC artifact.

Joerg proposed that the SC develop a set of rules which will allow the SC to review CAP Profile requests from host nations. Sukumar asked if we would get any more such requests and Norm replied that there was a good possibility, following discussions from the CAP Implementation Workshop -a number of nations seemed to be interested in the idea.

Elysa followed up that it would be really helpful from an international coordination perspective if all the profiles would be posted on a single authoritative site. It could be an international interoperability issue as well given potential differences in event codes. The group discussed the concept of an international event code list – Doug pointed out that we would really need a taxonomy due to the various overlaps and just an event list will not be sufficient.

Sukumar summarized the two threaded discussions: (1) Greg’s RFA – the SC members will review and provide comments on the Discussion Paper; following the review, the group will discuss options of moving forward. (2) Profile Development Best Practices/Rules: develop a process to review profiles and profile requests from host nations. Sukumar agreed to take an action item to post this issue on the list-serv for discussion.

Sukumar asked if there were any other items for discussion -their being none, Greg made the motion to adjourn, and Elysa seconded the motion.
