Primary Objectives /
  • To prepare & develop a men’s squad that competes successfully in all domestic competitions
  • To develop individuals to represent the Blackcaps in all three formats

  1. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

(a)Preparation, Training and Playing

  • To develop programs that maximise ND’s chances of success.
  • Design, coordinate and implementpre-season and in-season conditioning and skill practice training sessions that improve individuals and the team.
  • Actively communicate with all contracted ND players.
  • Coordination and utilization of specialist coaches where appropriate.
  • To develop a team culture that promotes unity and commitment to performance on and off the field.
  • Conduct pre-game, during-game and post-game analysis with the team.
  • Develop and maintain playing strategies that promote excellence and success.
  • Work with Director of High Performance and Chairman of Selectors to ensure awareness of next tier of players on the cusp of representing ND are tracking.
  • Ensure smooth transition of players into T20 campaign.

(b)Relationships

  • Establish working relationships with the ND CEO, Director of High Performance and T20 Coach.
  • Prepare and obtain Director of High Performance for an annual budget.
  • Implement and monitor the budget.
  • In conjunction with the Director of High Performance, establish working relationships with the ND senior team staff, with clear role definitions.
  • Work with the senior players and staff to establish team protocols.
  • In coordination with the Chairman of Selectors and Director of High Performance, clearly define selection polices and protocols.
  • Involve players in decision making, delegate tasks and assign responsibilities accordingly.
  • Foster positive relationships with administrators, supporters, sponsors, District Associations, and the media.
  • Help facilitate players’ education and learning opportunities for life after cricket.

(c)Reporting and Monitoring

  • Provide reports to the ND Cricket Board as required by the CEO.
  • Provide reports to the NZ High Performance Manager (or other NZC personnel) as required by NZC.
  • Provide an end of season report to ND Cricket Board.
  • Provide end of season player reports as required by NZC and NDCricket.

(d)Other

  • Fulfill NZC coaching requirements as set out within the High Performance Service Level Agreement subject to approval from the Director of High Performance.
  • Assist in the development of High Performance coaches in Northern Districts.
  • Provide some assistance to the Northern Spirit team and Head Coach.
  • Assist ND in growing the game through game development appearances, visits to District Associations, and being accessible to the media.
  • Be an active part of the ND administrative team.
