NWBI Badminton Club – GMU Recreation Building (PE Building)

Fees –

  • $50 GMU pass + $25 NWBI & Club Membership = $75 per semester (Spring 1/1 – 5/15, Summer 5/16 - 8/15, Fall, 8/16 -12/31)
  • Guest $8 (GMU) + $2 club fee per visit. Presence of any club member is required to avoid paying $12 GMU entrance fee.

Usage –

  • 3 hours each on Saturday’s and Sunday’s (9:30am-12:30pm)
  • Scheduled time may not be available during holidays or during scheduled building activity
  • Schedule may change. Check weekly updates in Sat & Sun sign-up “comment” area.

Building Entry –

  • NWBI Badminton Club members will be issued a GMU semester permit for entrance.
  • Permit is only valid during the NWBI badminton schedule allocated by GMU.

Parking – Participants must park in lots J or K (next to the Recreation Building)

An Online System –

  • Use nwbi.chencubed.com to register an online account. The account would allow guests to sign up to play until membership registration is accepted and completed (usually during the first visit).
  • Member or guest must use the online system to sign up to play on Saturday or Sunday or both (Saturday and Sunday has separate sign-up-to-play list). Sign up allows the organizer to know the number and better prepared. Signing up to play is a weekly routine.
  • Sign up list would be cleared before Tuesdays, ready for the coming weekend sign-up.
  • “Comment area” below the sign up list is for general communication among club members. Schedule update is posted there also.

Shuttles –

  • Player must bring club approved quality feather shuttles, which could be any brand of grades A+, A++. Player may choose to buy from the club by putting in purchase order while signing up to play. Shuttles generally use in the club is Aeroplane Black (A++).

About the Club –

  • This is a private club. Organizer reserves the right to reject or terminate membership when see fit, but only in extremely unusual circumstances.
  • The club encourages friendly atmosphere off the court. Good sportsmanship in the court.
  • The club would not tolerate behavior other than good citizens. We are serious about having a sense of trust among each other.
  • The club is open to different skill levels, except beginners. Basic skill is required.

Courts/Facility –

  • Four permanent courts, plus up to four add-on courts
  • Excellent ceiling height, lighting, and floor mat
  • Plenty of space around
  • Great locker room and shower

Club Guideline/Rule –

  • Try not to play with the same players over and over.
  • Get off the court after your game is over and let others to get in.
  • There must be 4 players to occupy a court to play.
  • Advanced players are encouraged to mingle with less skillful players as a courtesy.
  • Low skill players should not impose to mingle with advanced players as a courtesy.
