Number of Students Enrolled (Headcount)

There are 2,386 students enrolled in Lake Land College classes this semester. This is an overall decrease of 359 students (13.1%) compared to Summer 2015 (2,745).

Credit Hours/Full-Time Equivalent (FTE)

The total overall full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollment is 711.3 (10,669 credit hours). This is a decrease of 34.2 FTE (4.6%) compared to Summer 2015 (745.5 FTE). 1 FTE = 15 credit hours.

Enrollment by Academic Program

Of the 2,386 students enrolled:

  • 35% (844) are pursuing a workforce ready Associate in Applied Science, Associate in Liberal Studies/Career Track or Certificate Program.
  • 22% (513) are pursuing a transfer ready Associate in Arts, Science or Engineering Science Degree.
  • 43% (1,029) are enrolled in classes but are not currently pursuing a college degree or certificate.

Enrollment by Student Status

Of the 2,386 students enrolled:

  • 59% (1,421) are continuing students who were enrolled in Lake Land College classes during the past year. This is similar to Summer 2015 (1,420).
  • 19% (443) are readmitting students who previously attended Lake Land College but were not enrolled during the past year. This is181fewer readmit students (29%)than Summer 2015 (624).
  • 17% (405) are students attending Lake Land College for the first time. 8% (190) are new college students; 9% (215) are students transferring from another college. This is a decrease of 11 new students (5%) and a decrease of 176 transfer students (45%) compared to Summer 2015.
  • 5% (117) are current high school students dually enrolled or enrolled in dual credit, an increase of 8 students (7%) compared to Summer 2015 (109).

Enrollment by Age

Of the 2,386 students enrolled, the average age is 28.0, median age is 22.0 and modal age is 19.

  • 51% (1,207) fit the definition of “traditional age” college student which is through age 22. This is a decrease of 44 students compared to Summer 2015 (1,251).
  • 17% (404) are age 23 to 29, a decrease of 178 students compared to Summer 2015 (582).
  • 14% (335) are age 30 to 39, a decrease of 42 students compared to Summer 2015 (377).
  • 18% (440) are age 40 and over, a decrease of 95 students compared to Summer 2015 (535).

OTHER SUMMER 2016 ENROLLMENT HIGHLIGHTS

  • 60% (1,422) of the students are enrolled part-time; 40% (964) are enrolled full-time. Compared to Summer 2015, the number of students enrolled full-time increased 5 students; the number enrolled part-time decreased 364students.
  • 1,249 students (52%) are enrolled in at least one Internet class, a decrease of 21 students (2%) compared to Summer 2015; 956 students (40%) are enrolled in only Internet classes. Internet enrollment accounts for 5,611 credit hours of enrollment (374.1 FTE) which is 53% of the Summer 2016 total college credit hour enrollment.
  • 120 students (5%) are enrolled in at least one course at the Kluthe Center; 95 students are enrolled only at Kluthe. In Summer 2015, 139 students enrolled in at least one class at Kluthe and 89 enrolled only at Kluthe.
  • There are 36 international students enrolledrepresenting 17 countries and including 28 continuing students and 8 new students. The 8 new students include 5 students from Northern Illinois University enrolling only in online courses. This compares to 27 international students enrolled in Summer 2015 and 2014, 15 in Summer 2013 and 29 in Summer 2012.
  • 66 students are enrolled through the Dislocated Worker Program. This is similar to the previous two summers (67students both years).
  • 194 students (8%) previously earned a college certificate or associate degree; 282 (12%) previously earned a bachelor’s degree or higher.
