LADIES ROAD AND CROSS COUNTRY- JANUARY NEWSLETTER 2015

North Midlands XC – Shipley Park 6.12.2014

A windy, blustery day with some rain but not as much mud as our athletes had experienced from the previous race here!! Welcome to Solene who ran her first race for Notts – she is a student from France over here on a short term basis. We did miss a number of our athletes due to injury, illness and work commitments. Hopefully we will soon see less of the injury and illness during January!!!

The last fixture is crucial for our ladies. It is still all very close and our squad could finish in any of the top four positions. Girls – I really need you all out racing – so please do your utmost to be there on 10th January. You have all been training well, so let’s see the results of your hardwork. The results were as follows:-

Notts County Champs – Wollaton Park – 3.1.2015

Back on home soil the Senior Women's team turned out in force at thecross country championships in Wollaton Park. Strong runs by Lindsey and Catherine in particular saw the trophy returned back into the hands of the mighty Notts AC.Wetandsoggy weather made ourhome course even more exciting with boggs and slippery underfoot conditions, but without rain and mud it wouldn't be a propercross country. Thanks goes to Wendy and Trevor (as well as many others) for cheering us along! (Thanks to Jenny G for writing the article).

Congratulations to the various ladies who received entries to represent Nottinghamshire in the forthcoming Inter Counties Cross Country Championships at Cofton Park in Birmingham.

It was great to retain our title and also retain the second place team position too. Girls – I had a tweet from Mark Shearman (Athletics Weekly photographer) who wondered why we hadn’t won all three team positions!!! There’s something to aim for in 2016 champs!!!
