* One case came forward and denied. Dates are a concern as they come very quickly in order to satisfy the OFSAA deadline. Be sure get the paper work in by the deadline!

Direct questions to Tony Quick

·  Schools should have Guidance personnel on board for any new students

·  Students are not the only ones who can appeal the decision. A coach or school as a whole can appeal.

* Classifications are updated on the site

* Scenario we may run into – Holy Trinity doing Single A OFSAA for boys this year and have won the bid for girls OFSAA next year – their numbers are close to AA (keep an eye on the numbers)

* SJSS (Cornwall) looks to be AAA next year

9.  Principal’s Report (Joellen)

-Letter to Schools re: not attending AGM

Brief look at letter – all approved

10.  Championship Coordinators Report:(Deb and Bryan)

- Date changes – Add curling (Ian Wilson at NDDHS will be hosting – March 3rd and 4th) Snowboarding and Nordic Skiing dates can be found on the website.

- Update on communication officers – who is active and who is not (Still seems to be a communication break down with coaches about getting info to convenors early)

* Local association convenor sheets would be helpful – much easier than dealing with communications officer

-Inclement weather protocol (cancelled buses, etc.)

* Reminder to check weather as tournaments will most often run. The event will be deferred only in the case of a bus cancellation. Bring this info back to your schools. Two day tournaments could be a little tricky. A black and white policy may not work. Call coaches who are already there and make a decision.

-Motion re: Sanctions for last minute drop outs to EOSSAA championships

We must set dates before we can set sanctions – they will be set for the spring meeting

11.  OFSAA Report (Mark and Jean)

OFSAA Championship Conflicts (Track and Soccer)

-  Little support was given about this issue – consensus was that kids would have to make a choice – education first! Suggestions were given about having it in the same week but on different days…not supported. They have been mandated by boards for time lines.

- Rising cost of travel discussed – coping by combining busing/tournament s style format

- Alpine Ski helmets - new style mandatory – must have hard shells! Link to put on EOSSAA website.

- Triday funding is full for this year

- Scholarships are available- most deadlines are for the spring

EOSSAA is eligible for a Male recipient for the Coaching Excellence Award. Form is on the OFSAA website.

- AELS system is up – must be done for any teams attending championships (contact Mark Lewis with questions)

- Ontario Olympic Youth conference – in Waterloo this year

- Nominations for Character Athlete of the Month also found on the site

- 09/10 hosting girls A basketball/girls AA volleyball/AAA boys basketball

There will be an information session for hosts

- Congrats to those who are hosting and who’ve already done so!

- We have teams placing well – see championships for updates!

- EOSSAA CANNOT DECLINE reps after they’ve been accepted for the sake of championships

- Fiba rules for basketball – SAC met – looking at shot clocks, etc…. We’ll be hearing about it in the future - Deadlines for individual sports are under review. OFSAA is wanting 5 business days prior to the event.
