POKAGONBANDKEE-BOON-MEIN-KAAPOWWOWCOMMITTEE

POSITION DESCRIPTION. ThePokagonBandTribalCouncilisseekinglettersofinterestandrésumés fromPokagonBandCitizensfor (1) One Alternate position onthePokagonBandKee-Boon-Mein- KaaPowWowCommittee (the“Committee”). TheCommittee isresponsibleforplanningandconductingthe Kee-Boon-MeinKaaPowWowheldeachyearattheRodgersLakecampus(Dowagiac,Michigan)onthe SaturdayandSundaydirectlybeforeLaborDay.

TIMECOMMITMENT. Thetimecommitment requiredtoprepareforandattendCommitteemeetingsand performthebusinessoftheCommitteewillvary. TheCommitteemeetsapproximatelyonceeachmonth. The closeritgetstothePowWow dates,however,theCommitteetypicallymeetsmorethanonceamonth.Further, thisisaworkingCommittee,somembersareexpectedtobeavailableforassigneddutiesFridaynightthrough SundayeveningofthePowWow. CommitteeMembersareexpectedtoattendallCommitteemeetings,which aretypicallyheldattheBand’sAdministrativeCenterlocatedat58620 SinkRoad,Dowagiac,Michigan.

COMPENSATION. CommitteeMembersareindependent contractorsandcompensatedforservicetothe Committee atratesestablishedbytheTribalCouncil. Currently,Committee Membersarecompensatedinthe amountof$75perCommitteemeeting. Inaddition,Committeemembersareentitledtoreimbursementfor mileagewhenusingtheirpersonalvehicletoattendmeetingsandforotherCommittee businessinaccordance withtheBand’sTravelPolicy.

ELIGIBILITY. AllpersonswhowishtoserveasaMemberoftheKee-Boon-Mein-Kaa PowWow Committee must:(a)beaPokagonBandCitizen;(b)activelyparticipate inplanningdiscussions;(c)be physicallypresentandabletohelpoutwithassignments PowWowweekend;(d)beabletoendurePowWow conditions(longdays,rain,heat,humidity,etc.);(e)beabletomaintainasenseofhumorandproprietywhen thedaygetslong;and(f) enjoyworkingwiththepublic.

APPOINTMENTPROCESS. CommitteeMembersareappointedbytheTribalCouncil. Allpersonswho wishtobeconsideredforappointment totheCommitteemustbepresentatthemeetingatwhichtheTribal Councilwill reviewthelettersofinterestandrésumés;provided,however,thattheTribalCouncilmayforgood causewaivethisrequirement. Anypersonwhobelievesthatgoodcauseexiststonotattendsuchmeeting shouldcontacttheExecutive SecretarytotheTribalCouncil,whowillsharetheinformationwiththeTribal Council. PleasenotethattheTribalCouncil hasnotyetestablished themeetingdateatwhichitwillconsider appointmentstotheCommittee.

TERM.Thereisno limittothenumberof termsamembercanserveon theCommittee.
