IAVAT “Excellence In Teaching” Nomination Form:
Nomination forms for the IAVAT “Excellence In Teaching” Award are due to the Illinois FFA Center by April 1, 2014.
Illinois Leadership Council for Agricultural Education’s Agriculture Education Advocacy Award:
Nomination forms for the ILCAE “Agriculture Education Advocacy” Award are due to: Illinois Leadership Council for Agricultural Education, 200 South Fredrick, Rantoul, IL 61866by April 25, 2014.
Need an FFA Officer for your Chapter Banquet?
Sam, Rachel, August, Cody, and Joe currently have banquet dates available, but their schedules will be filling up quickly. Make your requests as early as possible if you would like one of them to speak at your banquet. The only cost to your chapter is their mileage at a rate of .38 per mile.

AWARD Program
What is the “Excellence in Teaching” award?
The “IAVAT Excellence In Teaching” award program provides an opportunity for Agricultural Education teachers to be recognized for conducting innovative programs of instruction that motivate students and through the use of classroom and non-classroom activities.
Who is eligible for the award?
All middle school and high school Agricultural Education teachers are eligible to be nominated for the “Excellence in Teaching” award.
Who can submit a nomination?
Nominations can be submitted by current and former students and administrators, guidance counselors, teachers, FFA Alumni members and other members of the community.
What recognitions are provided?
Recognitions are provided at three levels:
Section WinnerFrom the individuals nominated, twenty-five (25) individuals will be named as IAVAT Section Winners in the “Excellence in Teaching” award program. Each Section Winner will be presented a plaque at the IAVAT Conference held in June.
District WinnerFrom the twenty-five (25) Section Winners, five (5) individuals will be named as District Winners. The District Winners will be announced at the IAVAT Conference, but will receive their District Winner plaque during activities held in conjunction with Agriculture Day at the Illinois State Fair. (Typically the Tuesday of the fair)
State WinnerFrom the five (5) District Winners, one (1) individual will be named as the State Winner. The State winner will be selected and awarded their State Winners plaque during Agriculture Day activities at the Illinois State Fair.
When are nominations due?
Nominations for the “Excellence in Teaching award are due to the Illinois FFA Center on (or before) April 1st.
Selection Process(some dates are approximate)
April 1st – Deadline for nominations
April 10th – Administrators are requested to complete a support form for each nominee
May 1st– Support forms to be returned by administrator.
May 10th– Section winners selected.
May 15th – Section winners notified
About June 20th– District Winners selected
July 10th– Request for resume and letters of support are sent to the District Winners’ administrator.
About August 14th – State Winner selected

ADVOCACY AWARD
Purpose:To recognize nominees for their efforts, dedication and support for quality education programs in and about agriculture, K-Adult.
Eligibility:All elementary secondary and post secondary personnel responsible for
the administration of agriculture education programs. (This includes Ag-In-The-Classroom, Jr. High School, High School, Community College, University, and Cooperative Extension Service Agriculture Education Programs.)
Persons eligible include, but not limited to superintendents, principals, school board members and advisory council members.
Agriculture Instructors, Elementary Instructors, and Cooperative Extension Advisors are not eligible.
Who May Nominate: Nominations may be submitted elementary, secondary, post- secondary, and collegiate instructors, as well as cooperative
extension advisors.
