PURPOSE:
Toactas theDSPL AreaLeadforSEND (Strategic Lead).
Todevelopanddeliveraconsistent,co-ordinatedquality responseacross allschools and educationalsettings,in ordertoimprove thesupport andoutcomesfor children/youngpeoplewith SEND, andtheir parents,regardless ofhavinga diagnosis or EHCPlan.
This isadevelopingrole under theSENDStrategicframework andwillfocus onautism initially–see Appendix.
MAINAREASOF RESPONSIBILITY:
1. Establishand manage DSPL AreaSEND ReviewandPracticeImprovementGroups, includingpreparingagendas,papers,minutes,reports andbriefings;
2. Work with the Lead DSPL School and DSPL Delivery Manager to developDSPLArea SEND ImprovementPlanstoimplementthe Area Strategic Plan andoutcomesfromtheSENDStrategy workstreams;
3. Work with the Lead DSPL School and DSPL Delivery Manager to developaDSPL Area‘Local OfferforSEND’ andassistall schools/educational settingsintheareatoprovideaquality ‘Offer forSEND’ inlinewithHertfordshire’s overarching Local Offer;
4. Act asthe area contact with Schools’ and Settings’ Autism Leads regarding knowledgeofservices andsupportfor childrenand youngpeople withSEND andtheir parents.
5. Supportthe Area DeliveryManager inmappingand understanding thelocal needand theresourcesavailabletosupportchildrenandyoungpeople withSEND and their parentsandsiblings;
6. Contribute toinformationabout,andto the development of,services forfamilieswho havechildren/young peoplewithSEND (parentguides,informationfor parentsatthe point of diagnosis, parent/sibling supportgroups andgeneral information,transition support);
7. Assist schools/settings/parents(throughknowledgeandclearexpectationsofthe local offer ofservices and access processes)inresolvingdayto dayissues that impactonachild/youngperson accessinglearning;
8. AttendandcontributetotheDSPLAreaGroup,relevantcountywide SENDGroups;
9. Understand andutilise theDSPL AreaSEND Dataset
10.Ensureallappropriatedata,information and theSEND needs analysisis made availabletotheDSPL AreaGroupmembers ina timelyway;
11.Supportcommunications andconsultationstothewider stakeholdergroupin the
DSPL area;

5.A)Map andunderstandthelocal needandtheresourcesavailabletosupport childrenandyoung peoplewith autism andtheirparents/siblings inthe area.
B)Contribute toinformationabout,andtothe development ofservicesforfamilies who havechildren/youngpeoplewith autism (parentguides,informationfor parents atthepoint of diagnosis, parent/siblingsupport groups andgeneral information, transitionsupport);
6.Assist schools/settings/parents(throughknowledge andclearexpectationsofthe local offer ofservices and access processes)inresolvingdayto dayissues that impactonachild/youngperson accessinglearning;
7.Attendandcontributeto theDSPL Area Group,relevantCountywide SENDGroups andtheCountywideAutismImprovementGroup;
8.Develop andmaintainaDSPLAreaAutismDataSetand ImprovementMonitor (in conjunctionwith theCountyPerformanceImprovementManager andCountyAutism Lead);
9.Ensureallappropriatedata,informationand theautism needsanalysis is made availabletotheDSPLArea Groupmembers ina timelyway;
10.Managecommunications andconsultationstothewider stakeholdergroupin the
DSPL areainrelation to autism;
11.Inconjunctionwith theHertfordshireAutismEducationTrusttraining team/approach,assistwith,contributetoandco-ordinate theDSPL AreaAutism TrainingPlanandRecordfor schools and settings;
12.EnsurethataDSPLArea‘EarlyResolution’ systemis in placethatwillresolve situations where child/youngpeople with autism areatrisk oflosingaschool/setting place,or aresubject toalong termreduced timetablemanagementapproach. Ensurethesystemis co-ordinatedandthattheimpact ofthe‘Early Resolution’ systemis monitored.
