Principles To Live By – January, 2000JESUS INC.

Welcome to the fourth issue of Principles To Live By published by JESUS, INC. Over two thousand years have passed since the birth of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. His Word continues to change lives and to bring forth hope in the midst of hopelessness. JESUS, INC is a private non-profit Christian corporation whose mission is to help businesses and communities learn how to apply Biblical Principles in their day-to-day operations. This issue will convey more of God’s Word (Biblical Principles) to you.

To Whom Will You Turn?

1) You shall have no other gods before Me,

You shall love Me and not ignore Me.

To love God and your neighbor with all your soul,

For this is the Law, not in part, but in whole.

2) You shall not make an image of gold or of wood,

For this is to worship, not as you should.

To make an idol with hands or with mind,

Is nothing but sin, when the true God you can find.

3) You should not use God’s name in vain,

You count it so lightly, must I explain.

Do I need to show you chapter and verse,

To know it’s wrong to use His name as a curse.

4) Remember the Sabbath, to keep it holy,

The one Day in seven, to worship Him solely.

One in seven the Day of your rest,

One Day in seven to give Him your best.

5) Honor your father and mother, God’s promise is good,

Respect and esteem them as you know you should.

That your days on this earth all may be long,

That your body and soul may also be strong.

6) When the Law of the land says not to kill,

God’s Law goes deeper, further still.

To hide in the heart bitterness and hate,

‘tis murder to God and will close Heaven’s gate.

7) In these days of sin and so little care,

When adultery is disguised as just an “affair.”

But know this O man, God sees your lust,

If you want to live, then repent you must.

8) We use soft words like “pinch” and “perks”,

Man steals from him, for whom he works.

What the boss doesn’t see, he’ll never know,

But your sin against God continues to grow.

9) How true, “the tangled web we weave”,

When first we practice to deceive.

White lies and fibs make a man a liar,

Whose end is destruction in Hell’s Lake of Fire.

10) The Tenth Command forbids man’s greed,

That insatiable lust he continues to feed.

The monster called “want” destroys its prey,

Consuming wife and children and all in its way.

11) You’ve broken the Law and sinned against God,

The path of rebellion, your feet they have trod.

O what can you do, to whom will you turn,

You’ve angered your God, made His fury to burn.

12) Are your eyes so dull and your ears, don’t they hear,

The Christ on the cross, all your sins He did bear.

If you will not turn, that wrath is still due,

Mercy despised will mean Justice for you.

13) O blind, blind sinner, when will you awake,

Turn from your sin and Hell’s Fiery Lake.

Call upon Jesus who died for your sin,

For He’s Heaven’s Door, the only way in.

Prayer “Helps”

  • Humble yourself before God.
  • Ask God to search your heart to bring to mind any sin that needs to be confessed.
  • Repent of your sins and forgive those who have wronged you.

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him, and dine with him, and he with Me.”(Rev 3:20)

  • To pray is to let Jesus come into our hearts.
  • It is not our prayer which moves the Lord Jesus. It is Jesus through the Holy Spirit, who moves us to pray.
  • Our prayers are always a result of Jesus knocking at our hearts door.
  • To pray is to let Jesus into our needs, to give Him permission to handle them.
  • To pray is to let Jesus glorify His name in the midst of our needs.
  • The results of prayer is not dependent on the power of the one who prays.

Prayer is something deeper than words. It is present in the soul before it has been formulated in the words. And it abides in the soul after the last words of prayer have passed over the lips. Prayer is an attitude of our hearts, an attitude of mind. Such an attitude is immediately recognized by God as an appeal.

  • Only he who is helpless can truly pray.
  • Without faith there can be no prayer, no matter how great our helplessness may be.
  • It is blasphemy toward God to turn to Him in prayer and not believe in answer to prayer.
  • We have faith enough when we in our helplessness, turn to Jesus.
  • Prayer has one function, and that to answer “Yes” when He knocks, to open the soul and give Him opportunity to bring us the answer.
  • The only way in which we can gather and keep collected our distracted minds and our roaming thoughts, is to center them about Jesus Christ. We can find no rest and peace in prayer as long as we think that we can, by our own will, keep our thoughts on God.

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4: 7)

  • As soon as we realize we are helpless to control our thoughts and let Jesus deal with these powerful foes of our soul, then the peace of God will descend with healing and blessing upon our distressed soul. Then the Spirit will be able to explain and glorify Christ anew to my soul. And then, our thoughts will be laid hold of and taken captive by Christ, attracted to Him, and centered upon Him.
  • If it becomes difficult for you to pray, then offer this little prayer, “Lord, teach me to pray.” There is nothing that He, the Spirit of prayer, would rather do.

“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” (Romans 8: 26-27)

HE TEACHES US TO PROFIT

“Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go. Oh, that you had heeded My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.”(Isaiah 48: 17 –18)

LISTEN TO ME

“Listen to Me, My people; and give ear to Me, O My nation: For law will proceed from Me, and I will make My justice rest as a light of the peoples. My righteousness is near, My salvation has gone forth, and My arms will judge the peoples; the coastlands will wait upon Me, and on My arm they will trust.

Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look on the earth beneath. For the heavens will vanish away like smoke, the earth will grow old like a garment, and those who dwell in it will die in like manner; But My salvation will be forever, and My righteousness will not be abolished.”(Isaiah 51: 4-6)

DO NOT FEAR MEN

“Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, you people in whose heart is My law: Do not fear the reproach of men, nor be afraid of their revilings.

For the moth will eat them like a garment, and the worm will eat them like wool; But My righteousness will be forever, and My salvation from generation to generation.”(Isaiah 51:7-8)

AN OLD TESTAMENT PROFILE OF JESUS

“Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground.

He has no form or comeliness; and when we see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him.

He is despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.

And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not his mouth.

He was taken from prison and from judgement, and who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgressions of My people He was stricken.

And they made His grave with the wicked—But with the rich at His death, because He had done no violence, nor was any deceit in His mouth.

Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief.

When You make His soul and offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.

He shall see the travail of His soul, and be satisfied.

By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, for He shall bear their iniquities.

Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong, because He poured out His soul unto death, and He was numbered with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.”(Isaiah 53)

COME AND PRAY WITH THE LORD

We sense the Lord is strongly calling His people to pray. In obedience to the Lord, JESUS INC. started weekly noon Business Prayer Meetings in downtown Olney, Illinois. These meetings bring believers whom the Lord has called, to pray with Him.

Todate, a majority of prayers at these meetings focus on seeking God to revive families, marriages, communities, His Church, leaders and, the nation. To restore His Truth, His Righteousness, His Order in relationships, His Church to His Glory, appears to be God’s priorities. Included in this process is a call to “humble ourselves before our God and to repent of our sins,” from II Chronicles 7: 14.

Start your own Business Prayer Meeting. Invite believers to come pray with the Lord. He will guide and bless you abundantly. Surely He is Able and His grace is sufficient. Trust & obey Jesus.
