1.3   SUBMITTALS

A.   Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

C.   Shop Drawings: Provide elevation and section showing mounting, mounting and operating clearances and location of accessory items.

1.4   QUALITY ASSURANCE

A.   Manufacturer Qualifications: Minimum 5 years successful experience manufacturing similar products.

B.   Installer Qualifications: Acceptable to manufacturer.

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.

C.   Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.

1.   Finish areas designated by Architect.

2.   Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship, color, and sheen are approved by Architect.

3.   Refinish mock-up area as required to produce acceptable work.

1.5   DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A.   Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.

B.   Store and dispose of solvent-based materials, and materials used with solvent-based materials, in accordance with requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction.

1.6   PROJECT CONDITIONS

A.   Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.1   MANUFACTURERS

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Dock Seals are an economical way of forming an air tight seal between the building and the trailer. Adjustable curtains are available for opening heights of up to 10 feet (3048 mm) high or where trucks vary in height. Increased abrasion resistance can be achieved by the addition of upgraded materials or with wear plates. Delete if not required.

2.2   DOCK SEALS

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Series 0101 Stationary Dock Seal is the most economical method of forming an air-tight seal between the building and the trailer. For opening where the vehicles are generally of a standard size. Delete if not required.

A.   Product: Dock door seal shall be Model 0101 as manufactured by Super Seal Mfg. Ltd.

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Can be fitted for openings up to 9 feet W by 9 feet H (2743 mm by 2743 mm). 6 inches (152 mm) maximum pad projection in front of the dock bumper face is recommended to prevent over compression, excessive wear and tear and undue building wall pressure.

1.   Application: Seals trailers 12 feet to 13 feet H (3048 mm to 3962 mm) from grade with a dock height of 48 inches (1219 mm).

2.   Assembly: Dimensions for door openings 8 feet W x 8 feet H (2438 mm by 2438 mm) shall have two 8 feet H (2438 mm) vertical pads and one 10 feet (3048 mm) long head pad with 12 inches (305 mm) face. Openings up to 9 feet W by 9 feet H (2743 mm by 2743 mm) by the use of wedge shaped vertical and extended head pads. Unit projection shall be 10 inches (254 mm).

3.   Construction: Kiln-dried pressurized wood, and a high density light weight urethane foam core with 98% compression recovery and maintaining flexibility at -40 degrees F (-38 degree C). The foam core shall be continuously bonded (not spot glued) to the wood backing with a high quality non-flammable elastic adhesive. Foam pads are vented through brass plated grommets allowing air to be exhausted and moisture to drain when pads are compressed. Vertical pads are tapered cut at the bottom to prevent sagging, pinching, and wearing when compressed. Unit shall be furnished with required mounting hardware, galvanized to resist corrosion.

2.   Assembly: Dimensions for door openings 8 feet W by 10 feet H (2438 mm by 3048 mm) have two 10 feet H (3048 mm) vertical pads with a 12 inches (305 mm) face, wedge shape and one 10 feet (3048 mm) long head curtain with a 24 inches (610 mm) drop. Openings up to 10 feet W by 12 feet H (3048 mm by 3658 mm) by the use of wedge shaped verticals and longer curtain. Unit projection shall be 10 inches (254 mm).

3.   Construction: Kiln-dried pressurized wood, and a high density light weight urethane foam core with 98% compression recovery and maintaining flexibility at -40 degrees F (-38 degree C). The foam core shall be continuously bonded (not spot glued) to the wood backing with a high quality non-flammable elastic adhesive. Cover fabric shall be double stitched with high strength twisted 4 ply 100% polyester bonded, U.V. treated thread. Vertical foam pads are vented through brass plated grommets allowing air to be exhausted and moisture to drain when pads are compressed. Vertical pads are tapered cut at the top to provide adequate drainage. Unit shall come complete with a drop curtain over vertical pads. Full width steel tube shall be inserted into a pocket on the head curtain to prevent sagging. Unit shall be furnished with required mounting hardware, galvanized to resist corrosion.

a.   Vertical pads shall have a 24 inches (610 mm) H 4 inches (102 mm) W yellow guide strip to aid in spotting trailers.
