The Department of Health and Kinesiology at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas invites applicants to apply for the position of Clinical Assistant Professor for Physical Education/Sport Pedagogy, which begins in the fall semester of 2017.

Salary: Commensurate with position

Qualifications: A successful candidate will represent the following qualifications:

·  A doctoral degree from an accredited institution in the field of Kinesiology with specialization in Physical Education/Sport Pedagogy (i.e., Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE)) or other related educational fields,

·  A demonstrated record of achievement in undergraduate PETE teaching, academic research and service with physical education/physical activity teaching experience at both K-12 and university levels,

·  Excellent communication skills with an ability to facilitate field-based instruction in the K-12 school/community setting,

·  Adept at interacting with college students in a sensitive manner while critiquing early teaching capabilities,

·  The ability to provide instruction for using technology in the classroom/gymnasium,

·  An ability to contribute to the national dialogue on important issues in the candidate’s field of study,

·  Training and experience in sport pedagogy/PETE as it relates to health education,

·  The ability to function as an integral part of the Division of Kinesiology’s faculty, with expectations to assume teaching, mentoring and administrative duties associated with the Physical Education Teacher Certification Program and serve the overall mission of the Department, College and University.

Responsibilities:

·  Provide quality instruction, course coordination, teacher training, curriculum development, assessment and database management,

·  Observe and provide feedback to students in the Health and Kinesiology teacher certification programs during the early teaching experiences,

·  Schedule and observe students during field based instruction, providing relevant feedback, counseling on improvements,

·  Complete administrative duties as assigned.
