NOTE: THE FRANKLIN STEAKHOUSE IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE.

Our meeting was called to order at Diamond Springs with 14 in attendance.

We sang "Happy Birthday" to Janis Wolfe.

We had two guests - Denis Williams, Nutley High School principal, and Raven Cardone (winner of the Rotary Award for Art). President Walt Smith presented her with the check for the award. Raven plans on attending Essex County College at Caldwell and then continuing her studies at the Santa Fe School of Design in Santa Fe, NM.

Barbara Hirsch read a Thank You note from Scholarship winner Thomas Boniello.

Last week it was noted that a tree planted by Rotary in 1976 was now more visable because the pocket park had been cleaned up. It was reported that the park was on Chestnut Street. Bob Ciocco corrected the location - it is on Church Street. If you went looking for the plaque, I apologize.

Sally Goodson commented on last week's Golf Outing. There were 80 participants and all had a wonderful time. She teamed with Bert Ducci. There were four groups that participated - Nutley, Belleville, Glen Ridge, and the United Way.

John Dinan was to present a program on the US Navy. Because of time, he changed the program to Bio-terrorism. The point of his presentation was that bio-terrorism is difficult to detect. Is the outbreak of a pandemic virus an act of nature or the work of bio-terrorists? The government is slow on placing blame because of the possibility of panic. Was the outbreak caused by unsanitary food handling or the work of an organization? "We should not worry about terrorists becoming biologists; we should be concerned about biologists becoming terrorists."
