X5 IS CONDUCTING A “MAGIC” PROMOTION

Moscow, May 22, 2007 – X5 Retail Group N.V., Russia’s largest retail company by sales volume, announced today the launch of a new marketing promotion called “the Magic Coupon.”

The promotion will run through June 18, 2007 in all Perekrestok supermarkets in Moscow and 20 Russian cities.

Within the framework of the promotion, every customer who makes a purchase over 600 rubles will receive a “Magic Coupon.” The coupon is a small square on special paper that contains the terms of use and a spotted field. In order to determine the “Magic Coupon’s” prize, participants must place the coupon on a special colored spot that will be broadcast on Perekrestok commercials on the Domashnii TV channel for the duration of the promotion. The participant can then read the name of the prize, which can be picked up at any Perekrestok store.

Anyone who has “Magic Coupon” is given the option to either receive a prize immediately, such as a bottle of champagne or various consumer appliances, or gather several together so as to form the sentence “Perekrestok – the Number One Supermarket in Russia” and win a special prize. This prize is a certificate worth 2000 rubles towards purchases at Perekrestok.

“We want routine visits to the store to become fun for our customers. In this promotion, we were looking for something that’s original and interesting for customers and would be a new approach to the Russian market. When developing the “Magic Coupon,” we based it on successful projects that retail chains in Greece and Poland had already tried. There’re many new and unique elements for the Russian market in our promotion and I hope that this promotion generates a lot of interest for the chain’s customers,” said Karina Chernikova, X5 Group’s director of marketing and advertising.
