1The various Working Groups/Task Forces set up by the Planning Commission for making recommendations for evolving an effective policy and programmatic approach for the forestry sector for the 11th Five Year Plan are continuously holding meetings/ discussions for finalizing the reports for submission to the Planning Commission. 2The first meeting of the Committee constituted by the MoEF under the chairmanship of DG, ICFRE for suggesting measures for ‘Strengthening Institutional Mechanisms for Capacity Building in the Forestry Sector’ will be held on December 4th,, 2006 at Dehradun.

3The DGF & SS has requested the PCCFs of States to provide basic information to the ICFRE on the various weeds including invasive species effecting management of plantations and natural forests so that the ‘FIS Cell’ established in FRI could undertake detailed studies and research on cost-effective methods for preventing their introduction, eradication and control.

4The Webpage of the RT Division ( has been made interactive by having a provision for providing suggestions on the various capacity building programmes of the MoEF in the forestry sector.

5The Sixth Pay Commission has invited responses to a Questionnaire from the public and other interest groups. The questionnaire can be accessed at :

All are requested to offer their views/comments.

6The nominations for one-week courses and two-day training workshops to be organized by various institutions up to February 16, 2007 and February 2007 respectively have been finalized and communicated to the State Governments and also being put on the webpage of the Division.

7The GOI have allowed internet/ STD facilities at the residences and mobile phones to all Class ‘A’ eligible officers subject to monthly ceiling amount for various levels vide OM No. 7(14)/C & V /2006 dated November 14, 2006.

8A tentative list of 33 one-week courses to be sponsored for the IFS officers during the year 2007-08 has been prepared and put on the website of RT Division under the link What's New?. The Schedule of courses will be finalized soon.

9The IFS officers are once again requested to start using their e-mail IDs provided by the MoEF so that they are benefited by the wider communication network by and among all the IFS officers.
