ARTICLE V – SAFETY RULES

Article V Section 1 - General Firearm Safety Rules

1). Always Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction

2). Always Keep your finger off the Trigger until Ready to Shoot

3). Always Keep the Firearm Unloaded until Ready to Use / Shoot

4). Know Your Target and what is beyond

5). Know how the Firearm Operates.

6). Be sure Firearm is safe to Operate.

7). Be sure Ammunition and Firearm is Compatible

8). Wear Eye and Ear Protection as appropriate

9). Never mix Alcohol or Drugs with shooting activities

Article V Section 2

Northwoods Shooting Sports and Educational Center

Range Rules , Policies, and Procedures.

Para. 1 These policies and range rules must be enforced to ensure the safety of all individuals who use and are present at the range during operation. These policies, procedures and rules are in addition to the basic safety rules for handling firearms and ammunition.

Para. 2 The following safety guidelines will be followed by all occasional recreational shooters, and active Club Members and the general public. Safety is of paramount importance to everyone on the range, and is the Northwoods Shooting Sports and EducationalCenters top priority. All individuals utilizing the range for recreational shooting will adhere to the safe handling and use of firearms and ammunition.

Para. 3 All Northwoods Shooting Sports and EducationalCenter Club Members shall bear full responsibility for their conduct. Members must always conduct themselves in a safe, lawful, and responsible manner, therefore abide by all Policies and Procedures stated in these Rules of Conduct, and any subsequent additions and revisions thereto.

Para. 9 Children at the range must always be under responsible control and have adequate adult supervision at all times

Para. 10 After shooting individuals are responsible for clean-up of any debris, targets, trash, and shell casings upon completion of their shooting activities. SHOOTERS MUST CLEAN UP AFTER THEMSELVES.

Para. 15 During organized club functions or events, educational activities, law enforcement activities or any other activities where the range has been reserved for a specific purpose, firing will not be permitted by other than those participating in the event or activity.

Para. 17 When any person is forward of the firing line, the firing line will be closed and all firearms unloaded and actions left open. Any shooters not going down range shall step away from the firing line. The range shall remain closed until a positive check has been conducted for any persons who may still be down range. Before you use the facility always make sure that there is no one down range. Check to make sure someone isn’t working on a backstop or berm on the range. The fact that the gate was locked does not mean that you are the only person on the property. Members are often taking time to work on the range.
