NORTHVIEW LACROSSE
Player/Parent Contract
2018
Players and Parents,
Participation in athletics is a privilege, not a right. Dedication, desire, discipline, time management, and good citizenship are essential personal characteristics, which are necessary for an athlete to successfully participate on any team. The goal of this lacrosse program and athletic department is to nurture these traits. In so doing, each athlete should develop a sense of pride in himself, the school, and community. The Administration of Northview High School believes that the tradition of winning is based on these stated principles. In order to help the athlete to achieve these goals, the following "Athletic Policies" must be understood and agreed to between the school program, student athlete, and the parents.
Our expectations for the 2017 season are as follows:
• Players are expected to be in class every day on time and participating during the period.
• Absolutely no behavior issues inside the classroom or on the athletic field will be tolerated.
• All team members must attend all scheduled practices, games, and meetings. If circumstances arise whereby the athlete cannot attend a practice, game, or meeting the coach must be notified by personal contact, email, text or phone call prior to missing.
• When a coach is speaking make eye contact. Do not talk back to a coach.
• As representatives of our school, we expect our athletes to be on their best behavior and to act as gentlemen. Hence, unsportsmanlike and other negative behavior (social media) will not be tolerated in or out of season and may result in being ejected from the team
• Uphold a high level of sportsmanship and professionalism at games and practices.
• We are a team and a family; support each other at all times.
• We expect the students to maximize their efforts in achieving their full academic potential. Good grades are a necessary component for successful participation on any athletic team.
• If injured, an athlete must still attend the games/practices/film sessions and lend support to the team unless physically unable to do so.
• Check all equipment to make sure it meets GHSA requirements before each game. Ask a coach for assistance if you have questions.
• Remember that your behavior reflects on you, your family, coaches, team, and school.
The following violations will be cause for suspension or dismissal from the team:
1. Use of illegal drugs, alcohol or tobacco.
2. Acting in an unsportsmanlike manner when representing Northview.
3. Any act at school or away from school that results in ISS or OSS by the school administration.
4. Any act at school or away from school that, in the opinion of the coaches and administration, reflects in a negative manner on the athletic program.
Each disciplinary issue will be dealt with on an individual basis which is to be determined by the Northview coaching staff and or administration.
I, (athlete) , have read the above expectations & guidelines and will uphold the standards set out by the coaching staff in order to create and support a successful lacrosse season. I understand that each of these expectations is an essential aspect in creating a positive environment for me and my peers, and no exceptions will be made.
