Board Meeting

March 14, 2017

Call to Order: Lora Harrell, 3:14 pm, quorum met, attached is the sign-in-sheet

Thank you Math and Science Fair coordinators Mrs. Lomeli, Mr. Church, and Mrs. Judkins. Thank you Julie Paradise for coordinating refreshments during Read Across America week. Thank you to Cristi Wikstrom for coordinating Chipotle partnership night

Minutes: The minutes were approved as written from February 14th General Meeting and from March 6th paved path meeting

Treasurer’s Report: Karie Rinker Teddy Raines, Sealed February statement is available for opening, reviewing, signing and dating by a non-signing board member, Mrs. Church signed. Umpqua Bank balance as of February 28th was $22,337.14. Umpqua Bank CD balance as of February 28th, 2017 was $16,274.41

Principals Report: Travis Bond, absent

Teacher’s Report:Jodi Church very excited about how many people participated in the Math and Science Fair. Teachers are working hard on report cards; they will be going home this Friday.McTeacher night has been rescheduled to June 5th, thank you Brandi Dyment for scheduling

Active Committee Reports:

Spring Fundraiser: Teddy Raines, this Friday is the last day to turn in your coupons and also the last day of the fundraiser. Had fun invading Skyhawk News and thank you Mrs. Judkins for also getting on the news to promote the fundraiser

Partnership Night Chipotle: Cristi Wikstrom, this was a very simple partnership night with a large profit of $713.14. Pizza Schmmiza and Warehouse 23 also give 50% of sales

Carnival: Angela Arnett, committee meeting was held last week. Prizes in attic have been inventoried. New games this year including a fishing game and Mrs. Judkins button maker station. Mrs. Hoffman is looking into finding out if we can have a dunk tank or pie in the face game. Deadline for classroom them ideas for baskets in April 21st, sign up will be posted in workroom.

Nominating Committee: Tammi Hoffman, Karen Hall, Julie Hutchins, flyers went home March 3rd and will go home again this Friday. Forms are due by next Monday and committee will be meeting on Thursday

Book Fair: Karie Rinker, have already met with Mr. Bindewald. The book fair is April 17th –April 20th. Extend by one day due to the two hour early releases on Thursday and Friday. The theme is year is camping. Tuesday morning we will have a breakfast; Wednesday night is the reading night.

Clothes and Book Swap: Cristi Wikstrom, will be held on April 19th in the evening during reading night. Start saving your clothes and books flyer is going home this Friday. Left over clothes will be donated first to Sacajawea and then to the NW Children’s outreach. Books will be donated first to Sacajawea and then to the public library

Ongoing Committee Reports:

5th Grade Committee: Cristi Wikstrom, Zuka Haarberg, everything is moving right along. T-shirt designs have been completed by 5th grade students. Next Friday sale is March 31st.

Donations:Angela Arnett, deadline for donations is April 14th. If anyone would like to take donation letter and help that would be great

Grants:Jennifer Vertrees absent, reported by Brandi Dyment, March Farmers Grant went to Read Across America Week. April Grant will go to 5th grade.

Membership: Wendi Stone, currently we have 138 members this includes 47 staff. Thank you Jodie Deeney for helping recruit more teachers which helped us receive the 100% teacher participation award

Reward Programs:Cristi Wikstrom, Sara Johnston, box tops and labels winners Mrs. Hoffman’s class had their popcorn party last Friday. Last contest starts March 31st and ends May 12th. Cristi is looking for someone to help her next year since this is Sara’s last year. Grocery Outlet Rewards has raised $1048.58 so far this year.

Spirit Wear: Justine Warunek-Lane, orders will be sent home this Friday. Our vendor Fifty-Fifty Print requested a meeting to discuss better spirit wear options for teachers if anyone would like to attend let Justine know

Announcements:

Weed Pulling Party/Rock Donation: Cristi Wikstrom, this Saturday from 10-11 we will be pulling weeds and laying rocks along the parent pick up area. Thank you Yard and Garden for your generous rock donation

Family Dinner and Art Show: Stephanie Seley, event is March 30th in the evening at Sacajawea. All student artwork is being saved and displayed along the walls of the school for viewing at the show. Cam Swarts would like some help mounting all of the artwork on the black paper and also to let parents know that all of the work will be coming home after the show. PTA can send a request for help.
