Northstar Travel Group (NTG) is the world’s largest B2B publisher of travel oriented information. NTG has a database of over 225,000hotels and classifications for more than 85,000 hotels.

Why did Sabre select Northstar Travel Group?

Northstar Travel Group provides worldwide coverage and evaluates hotels from a completely independent and unbiased viewpoint – no membership is possible, no fees are involved. Experienced editors individually analyze, research and evaluate hotels on an ongoing basis. NTG does not process hotel reservations or transactions; its sole purpose is to provide objective information.

Why should I request a crown rating?

You should request a crown rating if your hotel does not have a classification or if your hotel has a classification but you want it reviewed. Some hotels request a review after completing a significant renovation, others after an affiliation change. Any important change in your hotel can be a reason to request a review.

How do I request a classification or classification review?

If you would like a classification for your hotel or have a question about your existing classification, send an email to Your email should include hotel name, address, city, state/country, phone number and Sabre id.

Will I receive a response?

Yes, every email is answered individually. The editor’s response acknowledges receipt of your request and provides general guideline and policy information.

Will I need to do anything else?

If your hotel has not updated its data on the NTG website in the past 12 months, the editor will provide login information. Once you update your hotel’s profile on the NTG site, the classification process can begin.

How does Northstar Travel Group evaluate a hotel for its rating?

All classifications are done by travel editors, many with over 20 years’ experience. Every hotel is individually evaluated. NTG does not use an amenity check list or automated scoring to classify a hotel. Once the editor reviews everything about the property, a crown rating on a scale of 1-5 is assigned.

Is there a charge for a crown rating?

No, there is no charge to the hotel for this service.

How long before my crown rating is in the Sabre system?

Information is transferred from Northstar Travel Group to Sabre on a monthly basis. Classifications are generally available within 30-60 days.
