Brothers, Sisters,
It has been brought to our attention that Northern Rail are currently circulating correspondence implying that the Conductor Employee Council does not support the current dispute undertaken by our Trade Union RMT.
This is simply NOT TRUE and is merely spin and propaganda, solely orchestrated in an attempt to undermine the dispute, as most of you will know, it is our grade that faces possibly the biggest onslaught since the creation of the Railways, when the company looks to introduce 50% of the Network to Driver Only Operation or Driver Control Operation! So ask yourself a question, why would we not support our union when its sole objective is to protect and secure YOUR future employment, it is ludicrous to think otherwise!
As a Council we urge all our members to show solidarity and a collective strength and to vote YES to back the union position to defend our jobs,
As for comments attributed to the "Conductor of Future", please let me reassure you all, that these are on-going negotiations, but entirely separate to the dispute, as a Council we will always look to negotiate and enhance our roles and will continue you to do so until told otherwise.
NORTHERN "CLOUD"
In view of recent information gained, we remind all Members that your Union is totally opposed to the Northern Cloud, made up of hand chosen appointed Representatives, These workshops are solely designed to circumvent and undermine the structures of the Union and its representatives. If Northern Rail wishes to engage in such discussions or bring about change, then it should simply adhere to the criterion of the "Collective Bargaining Agreement" and negotiate directly with the elected workforce representatives. After all, the representatives are accountable to you.
