Position Summary:

Coordinates, develops and promotes the activities and services offered through NEI3A at the Healthy Lifestyles Center and satellite sites within the assigned area/region.

The following responsibilities are representative of recurring tasks. These are not be construed as exclusive or inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. These responsibilities must be performed satisfactorily with or without accommodation.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the identification, development and delivery of activities and services that meet the needs and interests of older persons, e.g., nutrition, health promotion and fitness, disease prevention, socialization and recreation.
  • Initiate and implement volunteer recruitment, training and retention plan to gain assistance with the multiple and diverse aspects of the senior center’s overall operation.
  • Supervise, direct and monitor volunteer performance to attain Healthy Lifestyle Center goals.
  • Courteous, respectful and friendly interaction with all program participants.
  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports for transit utilization, volunteer service, program attendance, incident and injury incurred by participants/volunteers/staff.
  • Prepare and submit in a timely and accurate manner all daily, weekly and monthly reports pertinent to congregate and home delivered meals.

-Ensure meal reservations are recorded for congregate and home delivered meals and submitted to staff/contractor as directed.

  • Complete consumer intake process (INAPIS) for all users of service.
  • Conduct face-to-face initial intake with home delivered meal consumers and six-month follow-up visit.
  • Follow all rules/regulations established by the State and Federal governments regarding consumer confidentiality.
  • Prepare monthly calendar of activities/services for distribution to consumers.
  • Attend and actively participate in all required meetings and training.
  • Work cooperatively with other agency divisions, e.g., the ADRC, SMP, Caregiver support, to provide timely and accurate information and assistance to consumers.
  • Develop partnerships with other community organizations to expand and enhance programs for senior citizens. Be creative in involving community leaders and the general public to complement program offerings.
  • Represent NEI3A in community meetings; speak before community groups and elderly consumers to promote senior center and NEI3A programs.
  • Maintain necessary Center supplies.
  • Maintain and clean Center facility as needed.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and without direct supervision.
  • Knowledge about older persons, the Older Americans Act and other state and Federal programs that support older people.
  • Organizational skills, with ability to coordinate multiple activities and services.
  • Ability to provide direction and supervision to unpaid staff/volunteers.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to relate to diverse individuals and groups.
  • Ability to demonstrate care and concern for older persons and their caregivers.
  • Strong customer service skills with ability to solve problems and assist in resolution of complaints.
  • Ability and skill in speaking before groups.
  • Knowledge of personal computers and ability to operate computer software.
  • Accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED plus two year’s customer service experience working directly with consumers or with the public.
  • Demonstrated clerical experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience working with older persons in a human service capacity
  • Experience in program development and implementation

Physical Demands:

•While performing the duties of this job, the employee is typically required to use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) enter data, or process information.

  • Employee in this position will frequently be required to access consumer’s homes that may require traveling distances and ascending /descending stairs.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. lifting food containers

•Employee in this position must hold a valid driver’s licenses and proof of insurance with the ability to travel to consumer’s homes in the assigned area of responsibility and to attend out of area meetings as necessary.

Work Environment:

  • Noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
  • Will frequently access consumers private homes that will have a variety of environments.
