Position Title: Associate Director of Residential Services

Department: Residential

Classification: Exempt

Supervisor: Residential Director

Effective Date: April 13, 2017

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Associate Director of Residential Services assures that quality supports are provided to individuals utilizing agency, Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and the Division of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities policies and procedures. The Associate Director of Residential Services directly supervises Residential Team Leaders and is under the direct supervision of the Residential Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·  Minimum 5 years of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities. A Bachelor’s

Degree in Human Services or related field may be substituted for experience.

·  Supervisory experience required.

·  Valid driver’s license that meets agency requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·  Regular, reliable attendance and punctuality

·  Communicate effectively in written and oral form

·  Ability to understand and use appropriate grammar and vocabulary and communicate effectively, appropriately and professionally in standard English, both verbally and in writing

·  Provide positive leadership to staff

·  Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

·  Access and retrieve information from laptop computer and print

·  Ability to be on-call and to work during agency off hours to deal with emergencies

·  Use of personal vehicle in the performance of job duties

·  Lift 75 pounds using proper lifting techniques

·  Required to work a flexible work schedule as determined by program needs or emergency situations that arise

·  Assure that team leaders and staff/Qualified Adult Foster Care Providers (QAFCP) complete all paperwork for people in services in a timely manner, including safety plans, ISSP’s, Service Plan Preps, data summaries for review by psychiatrist and HRC and any other assigned paperwork

·  Assist in recruitment, hiring and training of new employees or QAFCP’s

·  Make recommendations to Residential Director for disciplinary actions with staff and contract improvement for QAFCP’s

·  Has knowledge of and operates within the policies and procedures set by North Metro Community Services and rules and regulations of governing bodies, such as the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and the Division of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities policies and procedures

·  Participate in the RFP process with Residential Director. Screen potential new persons in services as requested

·  Assure that staff/QAFCP’s have completed consumer specific and agency required training according to established timelines

·  Complete all staff evaluations according to established agency schedule

·  Participate in the monthly medication roundtable. Assure that there are monthly meetings for staff at the group facilities

·  Conduct regular meetings with Team Leaders directly supervised

·  Review all GER’s and meet monthly with Residential Administrative team to review trends. Complete and document any follow up needed.

·  Assure that complaints made about residential services are documented and that follow up is completed promptly

·  Assure that Team Leaders in the residential program follow the medication error policy promptly to reduce the frequency of medication errors

·  Ability to facilitate meetings and mediate conflict

·  Work cooperatively with Residential RN to assure that individual’s medical needs are being met

·  Oversee scheduling of all staff work hours and emergency coverage at group homes

·  Review monitoring checklists completed by assigned Residential Team Leader. Assure that follow up is completed. Complete a minimum of one monitoring per month.

·  Ensure Team Leaders are providing ample opportunities for socialization and recreation in the community

·  Work to submit Plans of Correction for quality assurance surveys to Colorado Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Developmental Disabilities or any other entities

·  Monitor use of overtime monthly and develop strategies to decrease the amount of overtime worked

·  Participate in long range planning for the department

·  Maintain regular communication with families, guardians, ARC reps, day program and other entities as needed

OTHER DUTIES:

·  Maintain and increase professional growth

·  Participate in the annual residential budget planning process by working with team leaders and

maintenance to determine capital budget needs and recommendations for salary increases

·  Assure that the staffed facilities are clean and that maintenance needs are reported to the agency in a

timely manner.

·  Ability and willingness to use approved physical and non-physical behavioral intervention

techniques as appropriate

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

·  Must be able to sit for up to 4 hours at a time, use a computer keyboard and mouse up to 3 hours at a

time

·  Must frequently stand for periods of ½ hour throughout an 8-10 hour day

·  Ability to stop, bend and reach occasionally

·  Drive various distances in all types of weather conditions

·  Ability to speak and hear clearly over the telephone
