North Carolina State University Park Scholarship

The Park Scholarship is a four-year scholarship awarded on the basis of outstanding accomplishments and potential in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The committees consider demonstrated achievement as well as evidence of future potential. For more information, you may visit the website at https://park.ncsu.edu

Write an essay (no longer than1 page in length, double spaced, in Times New Roman 12 point font) on your potential in the areas of leadership, scholarship, character, and service.

Please turn in your essay with your name included and this sheet to Mrs. Dove on or before Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 11 am. If you are selected as the school nominee, it is also required that you have your NC State Admissions Application completed by October 15.

The Park Scholarship is merit based and applicants should be a competitive applicant to NC State University.

Selection Criteria

*Scholarship - Desire to master subjects and seek learning experiences outside the classroom; Take the most challenging courses available at their high schools; Have excellent academic standing and strong standardized test scores; and are curious.

*Leadership - Assume formal leadership roles such as team captain, student body president, and other elected officer positions in the school or community, OR show exceptional success or aptitude in endeavors such as Science Olympiad or fields such as music, art, creative writing, or mathematics; Listen well and influence and support others by setting good examples; and take risks and champion new, original ideas.

*Service - Show concern for others by identifying needs and working to meet them; and find a way to improve life for those around them.

*Character - Set positive examples for others and have the personal fortitude and integrity to do what is right, even when they are in the minority; and demonstrate the highest levels of integrity, honesty, and conscientiousness
