THE MONTY PYTHON INVITATIONAL SPEECH TOURNAMENT--6A, 5A, Champs

This year’s Monty Python Speech & Debate Invitational will occur on Friday and Saturday, February 2-3, 2018--and you are cordially invited. Please note the following:

1. Unlimited entries in Qualifying and Championship Events--as long as you have judges to cover your entry.

2. Due to space limitations, we will not be offering Novice Events. Encourage your novices to take the Qualifying plunge.

3. A full slate of Championship Events will be offered: LD, PFD and CX occur on Friday and Saturday, and IEs on Saturday. The Tournament Director stipulates that all previously qualified 6A students enter the Championship Division.

4. CX and LD topics will be as per NSDA and OSSAA, the PFD topic will be the February topic for the Qualifying Division and the Championship Division.

5. Judges: Requirements as per the OSSAA rulebook. Let us know who they are by Wednesday, January 31, for proper credit.

6. Fees, Drops & Adds: As per OSSAA rulebook, entry fees are owed asthey stand as of Monday, Jan. 29. Drops/adsafter 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30 are $5 each. CX-LD drop fees are $25 after 9 a.m. Jan 31, $50 at registration, as are debate no-shows or forfeits. IE drop fees are $20 at registration, $25 no-shows. Fees are the same for Championship as Qualifying. Because students entered into all championship events will be getting twice as many preliminary rounds as a normal tournament, entries fees for all championship events are double what the normal entry fee is in those events ($6 for single-entry acting/interpretation/speaking events, $12 for duet events, $10 for Lincoln-Douglas, $20 for PFD and CX).

7. Due Dates: PLEASE ENTER THE TOURNAMENT VIA THE WEBSITE tabroom.com!!!!! Entries are due by 5:00PM, January 29. As of Tuesday, January 30 at 5:00PM the website will be shut down to any changes. Any changes to your entry after that time should be emailed directly to me.

8. Championship Division: This year we are glad to announce that we will be offering two preliminary rounds in all championship acting, interpretation, and speaking events. We will also be offering 6 preliminary rounds in championship debate events. IF A STUDENT CHOOSES TO ENTER IN ANY QUALIFYING EVENT THEY ARE PROHIBITED FROM ENTERING CHAMPIONSHIP DEBATE!!! Students entered in any qualifying event and in any championship debate event will not be allowed to participate in championship debate. If you have a student participating in championship debate the Tournament Director begs of you(!), please only cross-enter them in extemporaneous speaking as another event. Also, since championship debate prelim rounds will take place on both Friday and Saturday students entered in these events are STRONGLY encouraged to compete both days.

9. Awards: Separate Sweepstakes for Qualifying and Championship. We will be awarding NSDA High-Point in Debate/Speaking and Acting/Interpretation, so be sure to nominate a student NSDA member in each category when you register on Friday or Saturday.

10. Registration will take place in the NHS Theater on Friday and outside the library on Saturday. When you arrive Friday, please call me at 405-640-5136 if you arrive prior to 3:00, later arrivals proceed to the Commons and don’t leave it with your students until 4:05, when the bell rings dismissing school. The ballot table will be located outside the library on the south side of campus.
