Canteen ConvenorPosition Description

Responsibilities:

The Canteen Convenor is responsible for the proper management of the Association’s canteen duringFixtures, and at other events and functions nominated by the Management Committee.

Key Purpose:

The RNA Canteen aims to provide hygienically prepared food at an affordable and reasonable price. We intend to offer a variety of both convenient and nutritious food and drinks to our members.

Hours:

  • Regular hours are 12 hours per fixture week, approximately 23 weeks during the main season March to mid-September. 4 hours per night, 4.30 -8.30pm Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. School holidays not included.

Additional hours:

  • 4 hours per week, 2.30 – 6.30pm Thursday afternoons for the 10 week Secondary Schoolgirl Netball season.
  • Carnivals: weekend carnivals may be held once or twice per year, all day Saturday and Sunday.
  • Special Events: Grand Finals or Claws Home games at CQU by arrangement.

Remuneration:

  • Casual wages –Fitness Industry Award 2010 Level 2 $21.69/hr

Requirements:

  • Hold, or able to apply for a current Blue Card
  • Food Handling Certificate, or be prepared to complete within 30 days.

Duties:

  • Operate the canteen during nominated opening hours and utilize club volunteers to assist with serving.
  • Prepare and review the Canteen Menu
  • Prepare and cook menu items

  • With the assistance of the RNA Operations Manager, order all food and drink items considered necessary to stock the canteen at the beginning of the season and ensure the canteen is regularly re-stocked throughout the season. Arrange pick up/delivery of all canteen items.
  • Supervise canteen volunteers as required and assist during busy periods.
  • Ensuring the health, safety and welfare of others in the canteen.
  • Ensuring that the cleaning incidental to the main function of the canteen is carried out (e.g. dusting of shelves and stock, wiping down benches, cleaning of all equipment and fixtures.
  • Co-operate with the association, in organising the ordering, delivery and storage of items for special events being conducted by the Association.
  • Obtain, and account for,the float from the Treasurer.
  • At the end of each day’s trading, in conjunction with the Treasurer or other designated Committee member, count and balance the takings.
  • Monitor sales to ensure the canteen is not overstocked on certain items, employ stock rotation and control methods.
  • Maintain appropriate records as required by the Treasurer and/or Committee.
  • Ensure that the canteen and its contents are secure at all times.
  • Keep the Committee informed of all relevant matters and supply a report for each monthly meeting.

  • Demonstrated ability to work proactively and collaboratively with a team.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Hygiene and Food Safety
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare, cook and deliver food items in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Sound understanding of WH&S principles.
