Task 8Simulation building

Carry out the first of THREE non-domestic energy assessments on real Level 3 properties. The properties must include at least ONE in each row and column of the property grid below.

Domestic style construction / Low rise or wide span (Portal Frame) / Medium rise (3+ story’s)*
Natural ventilation only
Comfort cooling (simple systems)
Heating System (LTHW)

*Note: Learners may use buildings with more than three floors, but the report must include the ground, top floor, and one of the middle floors.

For each EPC the following evidence is required, the simulation building in task nine does not require the evidence blanked out in the table below, all other evidence must be provided.

Evidence Requirements for each N.D.E.A. Assessment / NDEA 1 / NDEA 2 / NDEA 3
Background research document See note 1 below
Information obtained from client via property questionnaire.
Site survey form and comprehensive site notes.
Assumptions document see note 2 below
Data input form.
Floor plans showing overall layout with measurements.
Zoned Plans showing clearly annotated well defined zones
Health Safety & Welfare Risk Assessment.
Colour referenced and date stamped photographs.
Draft Energy performance certificate. (EPC)
SBEM main calculation output document
SBEM recommendations report
SBEM secondary recommendations report
NCT File and SBEM output document

Note 1 Background research (please look in the resources section of OneFile for a template which will help complete this task)

Provide copies of background research (e.g. web searches, local maps) on the location and features of the 3 property’s to be visited and the factors likely to impact on the energy assessment (e.g. geographical location, physical layout affecting access, whether the property is on the gas network, any pre-existing EPC)

Note 2 Assumptions document

This document must contain any calculations you have made and describe any assumptions or conventions you have used within the project.

If you are utilizing the calculator spread sheet for your calculations then please provide clear well annotated screen shots showing the calculation made and the applicable zone name this needs to be done for each calculation (SFP, LME, Boiler efficiency and dead legs)

Uploading evidence for this task

When you are submitting evidence for assessment please make sure that each document is clearly titled and uploaded into a single zip file. Where you are providing images please place all the annotated images into a separate zip file named photos, this zip file should be kept separate from the other evidence.

Once the work has been assessed it will either be signed off as complete or you will be asked to make some amendments. When you upload your amendments simply add a new ZIP file which should include V2 for the second submission V3 for the third etc. it should also contain any previously assessed correct evidence

In theory every zip file should contain all the evidence required for a full assessment of the project, your assessor can explain this in more detail if you don’t understand.

PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE ANY EVIDENCE FOR ANY REASON ONCE IT HAS BEEN SUBMITTED FOR ASSESSMENT.

Task 9

Carry out the second of THREE non-domestic energy assessments on real Level 3 properties.

The properties must include at least ONE in each row and column of the property grid below.
