Dear Parents, teachers and students,
School-based Gifted Development Programmes
Our school is going to launch School-based Gifted Development Programmes to provide relevant training to high-ability and gifted students for the development of their potential and talent.The related activities of the programmes, including the student activities and work, will be recorded by video devices. Such materials will be used as resources for future programme development in the forms of online teaching resources, publications and VCDs.
The School-based Gifted Development Programmes target the following three types of students:
I. Students with outstanding academic performance
Students achieving the top 2% ranking in theHong Kong Attainment Test (HKAT)in Chinese, English and Mathematics, or achieving the top 4% ranking in the academic performance in the related subjects at school.
II. Students with special talents
Students with outstandingperformance or achievement in non-academic areas, such asaward winnersin fine artsor those with outstanding leadership ability.
III. Students with outstanding intellectual ability
Students achieving the top 2% ranking in the standardised aptitude test.
The school will develop teaching programmesaccording to the abilities and interests of the successful candidates, such as exploration activities, enhancement programmes and acceleration programmes. Teachers, parents, and other members of our school are invited to nominateappropriate students to participate in these programmes. Self-nomination and nomination by classmateswill also be accepted. Nominators should illustrate the nominee’s outstanding achievements in details. They should complete the attached nomination form and submit with supportive documents such as certificates of merits, works, assessment reports, academic reports, and the behavioural characteristics checklist for gifted students to the school office by (date). All applications will be reviewed by the Selection Committee of the school. The Committee may invite the candidates for an interview before making decision on the final list of successful candidates.
