NOLS Teton Valley Summer Fellowship
Duration: 12 weeks, beginning in May

Position Location: NOLS Teton Valley, Driggs, Idaho
Pay:$320/week, plus travel reimbursement up to $600
Food and Lodging: Lodging and partial meal plan included. Meals are provided when students are at the branch (approximately 60% of meals). Lodging includes a yurt with a bed and dresser, shared bath and shower facilities, and a shared staff space with communal kitchen and living room.
Position Description:
The goal of the NOLS Teton Valley Fellowship is to provide the Fellow practical experience and exposure to the behind the scenes work it takes to run a large-scale outdoor education program.
The Fellow will rotate through the equipment, rations, transportation, kitchen, and program learning the skills needed to support student and staff embarking on extended wilderness expeditions.
In addition to assisting in the daily operations of NOLS Teton Valley, the Fellow will have special projects that may include but are not limited to:
●Plan and attend marketing events including the Tin Cup
●Create curriculum fact sheets
●Track NOLS Teton Valley carbon footprint
●Assist in updates of off-trail guides and map inventories
●Plan a service day with the Caribou-Targhee National Forest
●Update the NOLS Teton Valley blog
●Maintain and repair outdoor equipment
●Coordinate travel logistics for incoming and outgoing students
●Assist in field evacuations
Qualifications:
●At least 21 years old, with some exceptions on a case-by-case basis.
●Clean driving record
●Graduate/participant of a NOLS field expedition course/WMI course/NOLS Pro course (if not a NOLS grad, applicant must demonstrate other experience that supports his/her interest in working for the outdoor industry, education, or the nonprofit sector.)
●U.S. citizen and ethnically American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Black or African American, Hispanic, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, or multiracial (categories defined by the EEOC, U.S. Census Bureau).
●Self directed and motivated
●Exceptional Expedition Behavior (EB)
●Competent with Microsoft Word and Excel
●Excellent critical thinking and communication skills
●Ability to work well in a dynamic environment and adjust priorities quickly
●Thorough, punctual, dependable
●Physically able to bend, stoop, crouch, lift (up to 40 lbs.), frequent walk, and stand for extended periods of time.
Post-fellowship: Fellows must be willing to serve as a NOLS ambassador for a minimum of one year following their fellowship, specifically working with NOLS diversity and inclusion and marketing outreach efforts in their local communities.
Criminal Background Check: A criminal background check is required of all NOLS employees.

Motor Vehicle Record:Applicants must be at least 21 years of age by the position start date and possess a valid driver’s license. Must have a clean driving history and be able to meet the criteria for NOLS vehicle insurance coverage.
